Eric Millegan and Bones Season 4 (and beyond)

Click here for all your Bones Season 4 Information

Here is what's been said so far about Eric Millegan's future involvement with Bones.

Hart Hanson - We've not seen the last of him
Fox Season 4 release - He is not listed as one of the regular cast members.

So...likely we'll see him from time to time but there's absolutely no way he can return to the role he's always held. Even if they'd rehire him he would never get security clearance to do the job. So... Zacharoni is gone for good, sadly. But Zack may still be around.

Big Sigh . . . It's not the same without Hodgins and Zach as 2/3rds of the Three Stooges.I guess I'd like to see a sort of play off the House M.D. approach to introducing possible cast members with a bunch of interns competing for the job. What Brennan did with the way she cut down Ms. Third-in-My-Class would be a pretty good thing to play up. Bones is going to be pissed that Zach is gone and under the circumstances. It will be shear hell for any newbie for a while.

Right there with ya in the big sigh. I thought the "personality" comment was right on the money. But maybe Brennan will keep torturing herself about creating a bond with Zach that would have made him stronger and her inability to forge those bonds easily... Hmm. Sad.

Zach left the Jeffersonian once before, which made Brennan crazy. Now she most definitely is not going to take on cases with Booth because (quoting Hodgins): "There is no replacement for Zach." I was really hoping Gormegons apprentice was Sweets. Him I could live without. Sadly, Zach turned bad...

And all these episodes I thought it was Sweets. How stupid is that?
I hate it that Zach is gone but maybe they will surprise me with something good and then it only would make the show better.

It's always a risk to dump one of the main characters but hey, what can I say. As long as we can see him sometime and they get a good alternitave I'm fine with it.
I guess we have to wait until August.

We were definitely supposed to think it was Sweets all along - so it was disappointing that it was a well-liked cast member. I loved the bit last week where Zack revealed his great singing voice. His departure seems contrived somehow - like - "he's leaving the cast - so how do we explain it?" A forced plot twist.

I NEVER saw this coming. I'm shocked and sad and disappointed. How could this happen? And with no better explanation? At least they played it out well, and he wasn't actually a cannibal. (like being "just" a murderer is okay!) Who is Hodgins going to compete with now? Who is going to help Bones with the lab work so she can go into the field with Booth? Who is going to drive Cam crazy? *sigh*

I still think Sweets a bit of a creep though...

Brianne, did you happen to read my 'Evolution of Zack Addy' post for how I believe he could become a killer? Just wondering how you view that as a possible explanation of his choices.

I was wishing it was some intern or somethin cause i didn't want any of the MAIN characters to leave. And anonymous 3 , they wouldn't let sweets go cause umm he kinda just got in the show. And yes brennen did go crazy. I think that Brennen might go and visit him in some episode, and tht is when we will c Zach again. :(

erugh, i hate sweets and fully loved zach...i disliked this plot line

even if it was superbly well played and written *sigh* sad times...=[

Ok... i agree with anonymous 3... i was HOPING that Sweets turn out to be Gormegon, but, lets face it, it was extremely unlikely. It's a shame Zach's not any more a regular cast member, but well, we'll see how the story goes.

This really sucks. Zach was my favorite character and i soooo didn't want him to leave. I would have prefered it if it was Sweets but heh, you can't hae every thing. I think it was a big mistake taking Zach out as being a main character. Hopefully there will be a plot twist ensuring that Zach will come back full time... unlikely though.

Heyy...I understand that the whole Zack-thing was a shock...he was my favourite character on the show and I can't imagine him being around anymore...but I'm really starting to like Sweets and to be honest I never thought Sweets was the guy, it surprises me people do.

It was a shock yes ofcourse, but it's a great plot twist, well written. I to thought sweets was gormagon but i started to like him. In a way he's even a bit like Zack. Super smart and all. But no use in the lab.I'm looking forward to see how they all deal with Zack not being around and that there had been a killer among them who happened to be a very good friend to all of them. I will miss him, but will still keep watching because everything is written great. I like it when i'm surprised. I get bored when i figured it out to soon. Oh, I don't think Brennan will go crazy

In the episode where the lobbyist is killed, we all know it was supposed to be Zach. Then thing is, with someone as logical as Zach, one would think that he would be far more methodocial than waiting in closet and attacking the person. The entire "Zach is a killer/ Gormogon's apprentice" was extremely sudden. I too, thought it most plausibly Sweets, seeing as he always seemed a little too enthusiastic about being a part of Brennan and Booth's case concerning Gormogon. I hope they find some way to bring Zach back permanently. It's just not the same without Brennan and Zach "attempting to be normal" as Angela says, or Zach and Hodgins and their experiments and all around banter. Well, the show is brilliant so I hope Zach comes back, it's just not the same without him.

I kept hoping that whole thing with Zack being the Gormogon apprentice was going to turn out to be a dream that Booth was having while in a coma after he was shot. They could have pulled it off too. He was shot and pretty suddenly was ok. That could have been played the entire season and at the end of the season or beginning of the Season 4 have him wake up with everyone around him and him confused about what was going on.
I hate seeing Zack off the show. It's not the same and Eric is a wonderful, unmatchable actor. I don't care if Sweets in on or not but if they had to have a "shrink" I wish they would have kept Gordon. He was awesome

the worst part of zach being gone is the ridiculously specific role he played in the group dynamic. By its very nature the cycling interns gimmick is exhausting because all the viewers know that its a gimmick. which is extra awkward because most of them are so one-sided. Find an intern as interesting and real as anyone else on the show, put them in there for permanent and let the excellent writers do their thing. Zach will always be missed...

NOOOOOOOOOOO!not zack Not zack, I would of prefered an intern or even Cam but zack is too much of a main character :(

I loved Zack's character and his interactions with the cast. I will definitely never watch the show again. They wanted to shake things up and get people interested, but it blew up in their faces. They will end up losing viewership.

I'm very sad with Zach's departure, the team was just right, now a big part is missing, sigh.

I also would like to know what happen to the GRAVE DIGGER ?!

Bones is one of my top 3 shows but what really make it so good was the relationship between Zack and Hodgins...from one week to the next we never knew who was going to be King of the Lab. So far there really hasn't been a good replacement for Zack, I haven't really seen Brennan bond with any of the replacements. Get Zack back!!

The original post stated "there's absolutely no way he can return to the role he's always held. Even if they'd rehire him he would never get security clearance to do the job." I want to say that that is NOT necessarily true. Since we know now that Zack is not the killer, if the prosecution declines to prosecute for the conspiracy, he could theorectically work at the lab. Granted, he may not qualify for a Top Secret security clearance, but he still could probably be granted a Confidential one. This is coming from someone who HAS had a security clearance. Even people with felony arrests and convictions can hold certain levels of clearance.

I think that if they do it right, they could bring him back full-time. It certainly would be more believable than some "dream" sequence, or how CSI brought back Sara...
