Q&A with Hart Hanson - Tidbit

I told you yesterday that Lynn at SearchingBones would be fortunate enough to participate in a conference call Q&A with Hart Hanson today. She's posted the first part of the interview, discussing what she asked him and what he said. You can check that out here. She's on her way to transcribing the entire interview which will hopefully be up soon!

*spoiler warning*

What do you think of his replies?

I simply don't know what to think of it...
I need some time to make up my mind, it seems...

I thought the 'baby' spoiler was going to be something small in between lines, but Hart's making it sound bigger than I thought....

Lynn had a conference call with some of the Bones' writers earlier in the year and following that conversation revealed the spoiler that Brennan would want Booth to father her child. The spoiler caught the attention of other forms of media and was quickly shot down. It now seems that the baby talk has come up again. Coming from Hart Hanson you would have say that the spoiler has truth in it. I personally cannot see them having a child together unless they were in a serious relationship and think it will be nothing more than a meaningful conversation between the two. I don't think Booth would want to father another child unless he was married and had a hands on role and not the single dad role he has with Parker. As for Brennan, she has always said she doesn't want children but didn't come out and say no to Booth's direct question at the end of Baby in the Bough and has mentioned Booth's fine breading in the past.

So I pretty much still hate this baby thing and am kinda dreading it. I wouldn't stop watching or anything, but I would not be happy if the show were to go there. I'm sorry, but it's just not Brennan.

That's one of those storylines that is fun in fanfiction but wouldn't actually work on the show.

Milky, there's a gap between discussing having a baby and actually Having a Baby.

The first I can see. As in: "Oh, if I ever had a kid, you'd make a great dad" or some such. The latter, not so much. Hell, even Jag had the baby conversation, but I'm pretty sure the leads only got together during the last episode of the show (after like, ten seasons).

And something else to consider: this is the man that brought all the mayhem to the fandom with the whole "Jared will be a real obstacle for B/B". Which, we know, BS. Executive producers are experts at playing Hype. It's actually part of their job description.

I'm completely with Heirofloki on this one. HH is a master of drawing attention to this show, and he loves getting the fans all hyped up.

The fact that he chose to reveal that particular tease months ago, combined with his statement that he doesn't even know quite yet how to fit it into the storyline just shows that he purposely "planted" that baby thing to stir discussion. Remember, this is the man who said that good TV is TV that gets talked about!

(And obviously, he's doing everything right. Of all the things they could have asked him, he gets asked about that baby spoiler. ;-) Hope somebody else asked him about the weird episode order. That I would love to hear his opinion about!)

I agree. It's probably not that big but they still need to get the fans into the 'OMG! EEEEE!' mode - (like the Christmas kiss). That was my initial reaction before I actually thought about it so we know it works! It's most likely something Brennan mentions in passing.

Err... You know, I never thought they'd be actually having a baby... I just needed to make my mind up about what I'd think of them even talking about it. I mean, even tho she seems to have kind of sort of reconsidered the babies thing after 'The Baby in the Bough', I'm still not sure what to make of such a conversation. It just seemed to me that, cause of the way HH was talking about it, it was going to be a much more serious conversation than I thought...

But there's where you're all right-- Having him saying such things doesn't really mean it's going to be important.
