The Hero in the Hold: Episode Stills

Here are the episode stills (spoiler photos) for the January 22nd episode of Bones - "The Hero in the Hold." (Yup, Fire seems on Ice, at least for a few weeks.)

David Boreanaz in Suffering Man's Charity - the only bright spot has come out with a review for David Boreanaz's movie, Suffering Man's Charity (or Ghostwriter). It's pretty scathing, overall, but it does give some nice kudos to David:

The only bright spot in this dimly lit film is David Boreanaz, who seems out to prove something to his fans and critics. He hasn't made the best creative decisions with his career as of late (he's starred in a hefty helping of straight-to-video films) and it seems he wanted Ghost Writer to be his return to form. While he draws the film's best moments to the surface, his character lacks dimensionality or development, and he's only really given a small handful of decent performance moments.

The movie (with a freaky cover!) is available January 6th.

Christmas Eve Ratings: The Santa in the Slush

I usually try to pull ratings information from TVBytheNumbers - they lay it out so well, and make it easy to compare the week to week changes in numbers. But, with the holidays, they aren't posting much until after the new year.

Zap2It, however, has the ratings in terms of shares, which at least tells us....

The Santa in the Slush won it's timeslot! Hooray. Hopefully some brand new fans were gleaned from one of the best Bones episodes!

FOX began the night at 8 p.m. in the top spot courtesy of a repeat Christmas-themed "Bones," 2.7/6. NBC gave over its night to the Jimmy Stewart holiday classic "It's a Wonderful Life" (2.6/6) while ABC went the same movie route with the more contemporary "Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" (2.4/6). CBS started off its evening in fourth place with repeats of "New Adventures of Old Christine" and "Gary Unmarried" averaging a 2.3/5 for the hour. The special "The Flight Before Christmas" mustered a 1.0/2 for The CW.
"The Man in the Mansion" came in 3rd in it's slot.
At 9 p.m., CBS shot ahead of the competition with a repeat of "Criminal Minds," 4.1/9. NBC's movie held on to second place, while ABC slipped to third to tied with a second episode of "Bones" on FOX, 2.4/5. "The Story of Santa Claus" caused The CW to dip to a 0.7/2.

Broadway in Concert: Eric Millegan

Eric Millegan continues to stay busy with his various passions and pursuits. On January 14th, he will appear at The Canyon club, in their Broadway in Concert series.

Eric Millegan, who has starred for three season as the genius forensic anthropologist Dr. Zack Addy in the FOX TV hit detective drama series Bones, brings his successful concert act to The Canyon WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 14. Though a relative newcomer to television, Eric has already worked on some of television's most important shows. He has appeared on the NBC hit Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Sidney Lumet's A&E courtroom drama 100 Centre Street. Before his success on television, Eric had a bountiful ten year career in the theater. Employing what Variety called "winning stage presence and a sweet, melodious tenor," he starred as "Harold" opposite Oscar winner Estelle Parsons in the world premiere of Harold & Maude: The Musical at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey. His New York theater credits include the Broadway revival of Jesus Christ Superstar, the Encores presentation of Hair at City Center (in which he sang the "Aquarius" solo), and the New York premiere of Dead Man Walking at Lincoln Center. He also co-starred in the Off-Broadway hit Altar Boyz. His regional theater credits include roles at the Guthrie Theater, Cincinnati Playhouse In the Park, and The Repertory Theater of St. Louis. More recently, Eric starred as "Frederic" in Gilbert & Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance at the Silva Concert Hall at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts in Eugene, Oregon; and in concert at both the prestigious Signature Theatre in Washington, D.C. and Don't Tell Mama's in New York's Broadway theatre district.

TJ Thyne short film: Validation

T.J. Thyne is well-versed, appearing in everything from Angel to commercials for Chevy and more. In this video you can watch a great short film, "Validation," which features TJ and has won a host of awards.

Emily Deschanel at the Yes Man Premier

Emily Deschanel's little sister Zooey has a hit movie out right now! Here are a couple of images of Emily attending the premier of Yes Man.

Explain why Bones is great!

Thanks to Manda for pointing out this little tidbit. Ken Tucker, at, is asking for your help. He wants to get into Bones but can't seem to really get in the groove. Head over to his post to explain to him why Bones is such a great show - and how he might learn to give it the love it deserves!

PS I am in the middle of Christmas celebrations. I will be posting tons of things on Friday, but for now.....back to the celebrations.

Our Christmas blessing: a baby BOY squint! :)

Merry Christmas, to all who celebrate it, and Happy Holidays to everyone!

Strike News: SAG Delays ballots

SAG was originally planning to mail strike authorization ballots to its members on January 2nd, but has now delayed that vote until at least January 14th - at the earliest. Good news, maybe?

David Boreanaz Interview:

As a nice anon person pointed out in comments over the weekend, there's a great new David Boreanaz interview posted on, written by a freelancer. They talk about everything from growing up to current family time to Bones. Its a great read.

Bankrate: You've directed an episode of "Bones." Why the switching of hats right now?

David Boreanaz: I just enjoy being in front of and behind the camera, producing, directing. I love the whole process of it. I've directed before, so it's just something fun and challenging. I just fell into it, and I never really gave it a lot of thought. I don't think consciously, 'Oh, this is where my career is going.' I just kind of do it.

One would be foolish not to take the opportunity of being fortunate enough to be on a show, first of all, and then be around and absorb and learn from that so you can expand yourself. Once the run is over, I don't want to look back and say, 'Gee, I wish I had done that.' And now with a family, I do have to think of security for the future. But I don't like living in regrets, so I take advantage of opportunities that naturally come my way to expand my knowledge and career so that I'm not stuck in just one area.

Kristen Spoils: Double Trouble in the Panhandle

Kristen teases (and, I'm sure misconstrues, - intentionally) some of what happens in our first Bones of the New Year - "Double Trouble in the Panhandle."

Kelly in Albany, N.Y.: I am dying to hear some news about Bones! When are we going to see something steamy going on with Booth and Brennan!?
Check out the answer here.

If you want to talk sides heavy info, remember the spoiler chat post for this episode!

Thanks, Kajal! Your email popped up before I made it to my feed reader! :)

TVGuide Mag Bones Mention

I'm a bit late posting this (Wow, Christmas!) but TVGuide Magazine had a nice Bones mention recently.

Dec 8 - 14 Issue

Article: CRIME PAYS by Matt Roush

"...Need more evidence? Fox is so happy with the performance of its delightful forensic hit Bones on Wednesdays that the network is moving it in mid-January to Thursdays at 8/7c, taking on Survivor and Ugly Betty in one of the very few hot spots not currently occupied by a crime show."
Thanks, Nini!

TNT Marathon: Update

Friday morning I told you that TNT would be having a mini Bones marathon. At that time, they only had 6 hours of Bones listed on New Year's Day. Thanks to Su for prodding me to check they are listing Bones all day! Starting at 9 am with "The Girl in Suite 2103" and going all the way to midnight, ending with "The Mummy in the Maze," you can get a massive Bones fix on the holiday!

Spoiler Photos: Double Trouble in the Panhandle

Further confirming that "Double Trouble in the Panhandle" should be our first episode when Bones returns in January, here are the spoiler episode stills!

Don't forget you can watch the promo too. And if you are really into discussing spoilers, check out the 'Extreme Spoiler Chat' post for this episode as well.

Kristin invites you to name the hotties

Kristen has a short list of the Hottest People on TV, which unfortunately does not include either David Boreanaz or Emily Deschanel. Visit her entry and have your say in the comments about who she DIDN'T include!

20 TV Men We'd Kiss Under the Mistletoe

Looks like BuddyTV loves David Boreanaz x2! Thanks for the tip, Anon!

20 Men We'd Kiss Under the Mistletoe

#16 Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) - Bones

Kissability: 7/10

Kind of Kiss: Tame but Charged

Degree of difficulty: Easy. Booth has already proven that he is susceptible to mistletoe lovin'. Now's your chance!

20 TV Women We'd Kiss Under the Mistletoe

Buddy TV has given another great nod to a Bones star - and this time, Emily Deschanel beats David Boreanaz!

20 Women We'd Kiss Under the Mistletoe

#3 Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan (Emily Deschanel) - Bones

Kissability: 8/10

Kind of Kiss: Unexpectedly steamy

Degree of difficulty: Tough. Bones doesn't always have the social skills for snogging strangers. But she's not shy under the mistletoe… just ask Booth.

Buddy TV's 50 Sexiest Men of 2008 - David Boreanaz

Buddy TV has put together the 50 sexiest men of 2008, and David Boreanaz comes in at #23.

#23 David Boreanaz, Bones
Booth is a man's man, a tough guy who loves his family and loves justice. He's not the brightest bulb in the store, but he's a good person, funny at times, and so goofy that at times we forget how hunky David Boreanaz really is. Then we take a step back and remember that he's absolutely gorgeous.
Brendan Fehr came in at #37, with a Bones mention as well.
#37 Brendan Fehr, Samurai Girl
Who doesn't love motorcycle-driving ninja masters? On ABC Family's miniseries Samurai Girl, Brendan Fehr made a great return to TV as the sexy bad boy who could hurt you or make love to you. The fact that Fehr also turned up as Booth's rebellious brother on Bones only confirmed his hotness this year.

Miniature Marathon New Year's Day

TNT, which syndicates Bones episodes in the US, will be running a mini Bones marathon from 6pm to midnight on New Year's Day. The episode order runs like this:

6 PM - Stargazer in a Puddle
7 PM - The Widow's Son in the Windshield
8 PM - The Soccer Mom in the Mini-Van
9 PM - Death in the Saddle
10PM - The Secret in the Soil
11PM - The Mummy in the Maze
Syndication networks have better air rights than the original, it seems, at least when it comes to being able to put up episodes in the originally airing order!

Bones Ratings: Repeats

For last week's Bones rerun we had a repeat of "The Man in the Mud" and last night we had "The Crank in the Shaft."

Have you been watching the repeats?

I, admittedly, have not. And, I don't think I'm in the only one. The summer repeat ratings were much higher but in December times are busy and the break is much shorter. It seems many of us are dropping our Bones TV repeats in favor of family time and Christmas shopping.

"The Man in the Mud" ratings - 4.521
"The Crank in the Shaft" ratings - 4.18
I don't really feel bad for Bones ratings, though, when I notice how low the Private Practice and Life are...and those are new airings!

Do you think the random, mixed-bag of episode airings is hurting ratings? I can't imagine that the jumps we see are drawing anyone in to Bones semi-serialized character stories, but hopefully the general fun and great writing are doing the trick!

TVAddict: Fox Mid-Season Report-Card

The TVAddict has posted a Mid-Season Report Card for Fox, and Bones is at the top of the list.

THE GOOD: Afters years of being shuffled around the schedule, BONES has settled nicely into its Wednesday night time-slot to become one of the evening’s highest rated shows. After shifting the focus to Walter (our new favorite mad scientist), FRINGE survived a shaky start to their season to finish off the year strongly. While THE SIMPSONS and FAMILY GUY continue to provide for consistent laughter on Sundays. will finally have a reason to turn to FOX between Thursday and Saturday with BONES moving to Thursday night at 8PM and Friday night culminating in a nerd orgasm for SciFi fans...

Fox Orders Production Cuts

All shows produced by Fox (which includes Bones) have been ordered to cut 2% from their budgets.

"In these challenging economic times, we've asked all of our showrunners to trim their production budgets by 2%, an assignment which they have all embraced,” a 20th spokesman said. “Everyone understands that revenues are down and these steps are necessary to protect our business."
This could mean a variety of cuts, or produce placements, as pointed out. But it won't mean a loss of any episodes (thankfully!).

David Boreanaz says NO to SAG Strike

Strike ballot votes go out in January to all of SAG's membership but some big names are already choosing sides, and David Boreanaz has picked his.

Dear SAG Board Members, officers and staff:We feel very strongly that SAG members should not vote to authorize a strike at this time. We don't think that an authorization can be looked at as merely a bargaining tool. It must be looked at as what it is -- an agreement to strike if negotiations fail.

We support our union and we support the issues we're fighting for, but we do not believe in all good conscience that now is the time to be putting people out of work.

None of our friends in the other unions are truly happy with the deals they made in their negotiations. Three years from now all the union contracts will be up again at roughly the same time. At that point if we plan and work together with our sister unions we will have incredible leverage.

As hard as it may be to wait those three years under an imperfect agreement, we believe this is what we must do. We think that a public statement should be made by SAG recognizing that although this is not a deal we want, it is simply not a time when our union wants to have any part in creating more economic hardship while so many people are already suffering.

Let's take the high road. Let's unite with our brothers and sisters in the entertainment community and prepare for the future, three years down the line. Then, together, let's make a great deal.

Name the episode.

David Boreanaz's FBI tribute video

Back in August, David Boreanaz filmed a short tribute clip to help celebrate the FBI's 100th Anniversary. At the time, you could only watch it on the FBI's site. But, eventually, someone (or a couple of someones) uploaded it to Youtube. If you missed it back then, check it out now.

Thanks, lily, for reminding me about it!

Eric Millegan's NBA Trashtalk

If you missed it, Eric Millegan is vlogging for the NBA this season for his favorite team, the Portland Trail Blazer's.

Bones Mention: Syndication

TVWeek is talking syndication shows right now. The article accompanying this picture doesn't mention Bones, but the graphic list has it listed (with a big shiny "Player Under Pressure" picture) with a TBD on it's location. It's been on TNT - maybe it's moving?

Korbi Spoils: The Doctor in the Den

Korbi hits the sides again, and completely summarizes the latest production episode "The Doctor in the Den." Do not look at her post if you don't want to know it all. Go visit this blog's spoiler chatter post for that episode if you'd like to discuss it, though!

Important Note:

I am no longer going to read, or link, Korbi's posts. Sites like E! and EW! and TVGuide rarely spoil an episode so fully, and often have unique in interesting information that didn't just come straight from information we could all read. There is a reason many of us stay away from the sides - we don't want to be so completely spoiled! I will still provide the spoiler chat posts where you guys can discuss the information in minute detail, however.

Strike Spin: Latest "Watch and See"

Sometimes, you have to get beyond the headlines. When one screams "Screen Actor's Guild to Strike on Jan. 2" it's a lot different than the reality: SAG is on sending out strike authorization ballots. That's not a strike. It's not even a call to strike. Its a ballot to give SAG leadership the right to strike.

Will members, in these times, agree? No idea. But toward the end of the month - after the January 23rd ballot count begins, we should know. From there it may happen, or it may not.

Let's hope they can resolve things soon and not go through this again!

The point of this post is to keep the really heavy spoilers away from those who don't want to read them, not increase the spoiler focus here. Have fun!

Ausiello spoils: Zack and the Interns

Edit: I should have read a bit better. Near the end there is a 2nd Bones question

Question: When will Angela's girlfriend, Roxie, be off Bones? I think she was a terrible add-on to the this season. -- Jessie

Korbi Spoils: Angela

Korbi posted a Bones spoiler blurb about Angela recently. I knew 2/3 of this, but the last part is a surprise to me. Sides info all around? Or did she get something new?

The Bonnie Hunt Show Video

A couple of you keep mentioning the Celebrity Babies article on David Boreanaz and his son Jaden. You're missing the best source! If you've never seen it before, here is the original video from David Boreanaz's appearance on The Bonnie Hunt show, where he tells the story.

La Times Likes (the Bones they think they know)

The LATimes has a piece about how TV has made "a scientific discovery." In it, they fortunately mention bones. Unfortunately, they don't know the show very well.

Over at " Bones," also on Fox, it's the same situation in reverse -- Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) would rather be performing her miraculous autopsies on the ancient dead but reluctantly solves more modern crimes with the emotionally irrepressible Det. Booth ( David Boreanaz).
Check out the full article here. Thanks for the tip, Laura.

Vamps gone Mad

The ContraCostaTimes have another vampire poll this time David Boreanaz is losing by a lot (%-wise, at least).

Thanks, Cat.

Behind the Scenes: The Fire in the Ice

Here is a Behind-the-Scenes Bones video on the set of "The Fire in the Ice." It does tell you something about the setting of the episode, but I would consider it completely spoiler-free (and fun). Enjoy!

Thanks, Louise, for the tip!

You never know where Bones might appear...

I just got an email, on my Bones blog email address. At first, I thought it was a joke or something (sorry Annie!) but eventually I looked it up and went to the site.

Why did I think it was a joke, or spam? Well, she was telling me to check out a Gizmodo piece on an Iphone Barf Bag Mod. Being pregnant, any reference to being sick is no laughing matter, and I assume it was likely weird spam, which I do get from time to time with a public email address.

But, when I looked at the page, this is what I saw...

At least they have good show taste! Check out the full piece here and thanks to Annie for the link!

Double Trouble in the Panhandle: Episode Stills

Thumbnail versions of the episode stills for "Double Trouble in the Panhandle" are up at SpoilerTV. The description definitely spoil some of the episode fun, be warned. But it looks like a good one!

Thanks, Louise, for the tip!

They do claim that episode is airing first, now, on hiatus return. We'll see! We have yet to get any press releases for the air dates, so it's just speculation right now which episode will air first.
