Fast National ratings for Monday, May 19, 2008

A close ratings race on Monday night ended with FOX on top, with its season finales outpacing those of ABC and CBS.

Although ABC led the night in households with an 8.2 rating/13 share, FOX (8.1/12) and CBS (7.8/12) each fared better among total viewers. FOX led with 13.16 million, followed by CBS, 12.42 million, and ABC, 12.16 million. NBC finished a distant fourth at 3.3/5, and The CW trailed with a 2.1/3.

FOX led among adults 18-49 with a 4.5 rating. CBS, 4.0, came in second, beating out ABC's 3.4. NBC averaged 1.8 and The CW 1.5.

The final performances on "Dancing with the Stars" scored a 12.3/20 for ABC at 8 p.m. The season finale of "Bones" earned a 6.3/10 for FOX, topping "The Big Bang Theory," 4.7/8, and "How I Met Your Mother," 4.9/8, on CBS. "American Gladiators" took fourth for ABC, with the finale of "Gossip Girl," 2.0/3, not far behind on The CW.

"House," 9.9/15, put FOX in front at 9 p.m. The season finales of "Two and a Half Men," 9.1/14, and "Rules of Engagement," 7.6/11, gave CBS the No. 2 spot. The premiere of "The Bachelorette," 6.7/10, took third for ABC. "Dateline" kept NBC in fourth. The season finale of "One Tree Hill" delivered a 2.1/3 for The CW.

At 10 p.m., CBS' "CSI: Miami" ended its season with a 10.3/17. "The Bachelorette" cooled to 5.6/9 in its second hour, while "Dateline" improved 4.6/7 on NBC.

Wish you could write Zack back into the lab?

The creator(s) of this site are highly upset with the finale. I don't agree with the extent of their angst at all but they do at least have a fun and creative idea to fill the summer low. They're compiling suggestions and stories for how Zack could be written back into the lab and the Squint Squad. So if you're feeling creative, or just angsty and expressive, go check it out.

Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz Video - Part of the Fox Family

Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz are part of a cute Mockumentary about Working at Fox. They have a very short bit just past the :30 mark but it's worth a view. The entire video is pretty good, as a matter of fact.

You can see TJ Thyne in a separate video here, detailing "Why I love Fox."

Bones is a Hidden Gem

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I like highlighting positive media attention for Bones. EW has given a list of 10 hidden gems viewers should discover this summer and Bones is on it!

Summer TV: 10 Hidden Gems To Discover This Season

WHAT IT'S ABOUT Gut-driven FBI special agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) partners with rational forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance ''Bones'' Brennan (Emily Deschanel) to solve murders that occasionally make you put your dinner down. While it pulls a relatively healthy 9.7 million viewers weekly, we think it deserves a House-size audience. BEST SCENE YOU'VE MISSED After Booth arrests Brennan's father for murder, they're put into ''couples therapy'' — offering the writers a perfect way to prod the partners' bubbling sexual tension. WHAT YOUR EXCUSE MAY BE FOR NOT WATCHING If you've seen one procedural, you've seen 'em all. WHY YOU'RE WRONG When was the last time you rewound CSI to watch the exasperated or longing looks two characters just exchanged? WHERE YOU CAN FIND IT Bones Season 1 and 2 are available on DVD. —Mandi Bierly

Mandi isn't unbiased in the least. Abby West posts the Bones recaps at EW but Mandi has a very healthy (okay I used that word loosely) obsession with Bones. I can't knock that though! Lets hope many of the uninitiated take her advice and check out Bones.

Check out a few of her posts here, here, and here.
