Extreme Spoiler Chat: Critic in the Cabernet

New sides are out. Here is place to concentrate all the heavy spoiler talk (ie the major stuff from the sides, that most fans do NOT read) for Critic in the Cabernet. Feel free to post links in the comments, but I will keep the post free of them.

The point of this post is to keep the really heavy spoilers away from those who don't want to read them, not increase the spoiler focus here. Have fun!

I feel like I'm going to be sick. Booth at the bank, Stewie... Everything's just too much.

I know :-( I really hope they will take the whole baby thing a bit more serious after that episode. I just want Booth and Bones to have a baby together, because they realize they're ment to be, and not because Bones thinks that Booth is a good breeder. I really hope Booth can convince her that the baby will be THEIR responsability, and not only hers.

Rebecca said...

I think having Stewie start on TV is ok. I wonder what is wrong with Booth, though, with the hallucinations? I'm feeling a little better, I suppose.

Anonymous said...

I actually think it's going to work out, the stewie hullucination works for me it's funny but so bizzare that it's scary at the same time. As for Booth at the end saying that he wants to father the baby is good. I really did'nt like the baby thing when i first heard about it but after watching salt in the wounds and reading those sides i think Hart was right in saying these moves are neccesary in moving the show on.

So after reading the sides I calmed myself down a bit. Actually Stewies appearance during the sperm donation via TV could make sense. But his second appearance in the interrogation room is still weird for me. Although I have to admit there are some really funny, but true statements coming thanks to him.

Dani said...

i can't help wondering if she's just having it donated then frozen for later usage... it just seems so out of place to have this totally rational logical driven woman suddenly want a baby...

That for me is the hardest thing to wrap my head around at this juncture

Wendy said...

People really do change their mind about this issue. I know a couple who were very sure they were never going to have kids and they now have twins.

juniors said...

OMG I can't stop laughing! That is hilarious! I love Stewie.

juniors said...

Oh and I assume Brennan decides she wants a baby, because she's getting older and thinks there should be more super genius people like her in the world.

Dani said...

i get that folks change their minds and decide to want babies.. its just odd as they have been pushing the 'brennan doesnt want kids' angle so hard for this last 3 and a half seasons...

I will always be faithful to bones no matter which way the show goes, im just a bit puzzled is all... tis late here, perhaps thats it hahah

Sophie said...

You know... I had to read it a couple of times, but I think I like it. I figured he would be on a TV, and the whole... just showing up in the interrogation room thing was weird.

But it's kind of like the whole Izzie/Denny thing on Grey's, yeah, I'm not really a fan of what happened, but the ends have justified the means. And it makes sense, Booth is a guy's guy in a way, and I don't think I know a single guy's guy that does watch Family Guy. He would be familiar with Stewie.

And when I say the ends justify the means, I mean... look at what Booth says to Stewie in the interrogation room? What Brennan HEARS him say?

Now I'm jazzed. :)

Yeah, two major problems with the sides are that we miss a lot of the context, and they mostly cover the early parts of the episode.

In this one though, we get a lot more insight into the B&B stuff then we normally do. And there's definitely progression in the ep, from Booth agreeing to be the donor (because, basically, he'd do anything to make her happy), to realising that he can't walk away from his responsibility as a father, to realising that he'd actually want to be involved as well.

I can't speak for Brennan at this point, but Booth certainly seems to be in character ... and you just know he'll do the right thing in the end.

As for Brennan wanting to be a mother, I definitely feel it's something she's been considering since the Andy case. And I love that, even in her most motherly moments, she's still very much Brennan ("you like spatial displacement, don't you?")

Christina :-) said...

As someone said before...

Think of Stewie as a psychiatrist with a British accent i.e. Gordon Gordon!

Shep said...

'Twenty eight point eight million viable sperm in mere three milileters of ejaculate' *grins* Hee!
That's to be expected of course. Good ol' Booth!

The sides calmed me down a bit too. Booth and Brennan will very much be in character - you can tell Booth agreed because he hates the idea of anyone else fathering her child, (loved the 'Spawn of Satan' comment at the idea of Fisher donating)and would do anything to see her happy but he wants to be a part of the kid's life.

Stewie appearing on TV is alright - his lines are very funny and very true! Still not completely convinced about the interrogation room appearance, but I can see it working out. I'm just interested to know what pushes Brennan into wanting a child - I can guess, but I want to see what the writers will actually say.

I hope though, that Brennan won't actually get preganant, but in whilst trying, Booth will show her what having a relationship and family really means, how feeling and dealing with emotions can sometimes be a wonderful thing and how she doesn't have to be so rational all the time.

Tenny said...

AT first when he agrees with her to donate that seem a little OOC for Booth but since the whole convo is not there maybe it will play out better. At first I was freaking out about the whole Stewie thing but who knows maybe it will help get Booth see things in better light.

Danielle said...

Louise, ITA. I think Brennan has been softening towards the baby idea at least since Baby Andy, when she doesn't deny it to Booth.

While personally I like having a female TV lead who isn't interested in children, watching season 1 recently, I think it's possible that that wasn't even how she felt then. She's so vehement in her denials, it comes across to me more as feeling that will never be possible for her which would also be in keeping with her character and background.

Besides, people change, relationships change, TV shows change. I know I've been overreacting a bit about some of the spoilers, and the developments may or may not work out for the show, but I think it would be more concern if things were stuck in a perpetual season 2 with no change.

Angelator said...

I think it's going to be hilarious. I don't know how I feel about Brennan having a kid though. I can't see the show being the same!

And can I just say that Forensic Mama's advice to the livejournal comments to "step away from the ledge" made me laugh out loud. At work. In my quiet quiet office.

singinglupines said...

I just want to know how Brennan reacts after they leave the interrogation room. Booth has to tell her something about talking to an imaginary character.

Petit Chat said...

I really really hope the Brennan-wants-a-child-on-her-own-and-ask-for-his-sperm is part of Booth's hallucinations. She is even willing to ask Fisher, that can't be true... It seems to come from nowhere, if she does change her mind about having children it should happen once they are a couple, then it won't come from nowhere. Maybe after the interrogation he will reveal his felling & say that if he's going to father another child he wants to be involved especially if it's their child since he wants to get involved with her because he wants to be with her, blah, blah, blah... & then they realize that he has hallucinated this baby thing & start worrying about his health & go check it.
English is not my native language :)

I was one, of the many, who was freaking out a bit when I first read that Stewie spoiler without knowing the context of his presence.

I have to say that I read the sides yesterday and now I am *beyond* thrilled about where this is all heading, and I am SO excited for this one and the finale! Everything sounds completely in character and I think Booth is going to be able to talk some sense into Brennan about this baby thing.

That's the one thing, though - as much as I wouldn't mind, I can't see her toting around a baby next season. I'm kind of crossing my fingers that that situation is resolved before anything drastic happens.

Anonymous said...

Sure people can change their mind about wanting a baby, but it hasn't been mentioned in awhile and the last time it was it was all about Brennan NOT wanting a baby.

We have 10 episodes to go from that to "hey Booth donate me some sperm." It seems a little fast.

I also wish they would take a little more serious tone with the whole thing...Stewie and Booth in the blood bank is going to a little out of hand.

Alis said...

when is the epi supposed to be airing?

luscious said...

I read the sides last night and I am looking forward to this episode, but I look forward to every episode. I find these sides hilarious and the fact that Brennan has changed her mind about having a kid could be a result of spending time with parker. I think I read somewhere that in one episode she gets to spend time with him. The stewie thing will also be good as we have seen Booth watch cartoons and refer to them so its obviously an interest he has. By the way did anyone notice that Booth was not really himself in Salt in the wounds I know people have commented on Brennan but I thought Booth had a couple of moments when he was a bit strange.

Christina :-) said...

There are a lot of factors that over power the initial "I don't want children" mind set.

She adored Andy, and she wanted Riley. She wants somebody to love and to unconditionally love her back. As far as Booth goes, I'm still unsure why he agreed in the first place, but I'm sure the fact she asked in the first place totally left him stunned and speechless. Plus, threatening to conceive a child with Fisher works, too.

And like it or not, some women SAY they don't want kids, and end up with tons. In addition to that, we've got 10 episodes to build on it even more.

We don't even have HALF the information. Just part of it. Don't jump to conclusions just yet. Spoilers and sides are always misleading.

Petit Chat said...

[Stephen explains, "It started with the idea of Brennan—who has been so adamant about not wanting a child for so long—finally realizing that it might be good for her to have a progeny to have someone as brilliant as she in the world when she leaves. So she is thinking about having a child, and she realizes that Booth is genetically an excellent match for her." (Hell yes he is.)]
I find this plot really lame. Back in season 1 she didn't want to have kids because she didn't want to bring a life into this world for their sakes & now she is suddenly fine with the idea of creating a life just in order to leave someone as smart as her ? First, It's not because she is smart that her child will be too, as a scientist she should know that. Secondly, it seems she has less considerations for her kid now that she wants one than when she didn't want one for his/her sake. She also said that it was a lot of sacrifices & now she wants to do it alone ? If they do go with Brennan changing her mind I hope they find a better reason & forget about her wanting a baby on her own & asking for Booth's sperm. Unfortunately I think it's too late.
This season is full of inconsistencies, they are less & less rigorous. Sometimes it seems like some previous episodes or developments never occurred :(

Anonymous said...

I am a HUGE bones fan, BUT.....this is just ridiculous.
The writers are trying so hard to be original that they've conpletely lmissed the mark.
It's just terrible. Ugh.

Anonymous said...

I am disgusted with Brennan in this epi. How dare she manipulate Booth into doing what she wants. That is why she mentions Fisher. It is emotional blackmail. Also she insists that Booth should be only be a sperm donor. Hellooo! does she not even know Booth, has she learnt nothing by their relationship. She's knows that Booth adores Parker and he adores Booth, Booth is the best dad and yet she insists on Booth not being involved. It is cold.

This is what people should be concerned with and not Stewie, imo.

Anonymous said...

The reasoning behind Brennan wanting a child is ridiculous

She wants it to be a mini her.Stupid! Each child is unique, just because she is smart and scientific doesn't mean that the kid will be too

What if it has mental or physical disabilites, will she just keep trying till she gets a mini her?

Intentionally denying the child of it's father, an amazing father at that, Booth. She is beyond selfish, it is all about her, her, her. Are the writers trying to turn Brennan into most unlikeable character on TV?

Anonymous said...

Woah! People calm and look at it in a different angle. From what i've read Brennan isn't insisting Booth not to be apart of the child's upbringing, merely letting him know there are no obligations.

I agree she does seem to be slightly manipulative, but she knows no one could be a better father than Booth.

Also i'm sure she isn't having a baby because she thinks she's bringing a another genius to world. The writer's must know that is way out of character.

And hey, i'm sure they only said the sex was not an hullucination, who's to say Brennan's random request is not one too.

Petit Chat said...

[who's to say Brennan's random request is not one too.]
I really hope so but I doubt it. :(
Because it seems they are not carrying anymore whether something is OOC or not. Like I said above, it seems they intentionally forget about some previous episodes, developments & established facts when they interfere with their new purposes for the show. :(
This baby thing is so silly. I wouldn't mind if she changed her mind once they would be together.

Anonymous said...

Read the Kristin spoiler, that is exactly why she wants to have a kid, as said by Hart and Stephen

''Brennan finally realizing that it might be good for her to have a progency to have someone as brillant as she in the world when she leaves''

It is all about her wanting a smart kid, a mini her. It is shallow of her and pretty cold to think. All kids are unique. I find this disgusting

And

She does tell Booth that she doesn't want him to be involved, she only wants his sperm

I'm so beyond disappointed

Christina :-) said...

No, she says he doesn't need to feel any obligation, meaning she doesn't want him to feel like he has to be involved. She didn't outright say, "You can't be involved." She thinks detaching him from the child will make him agree. And personally, I think she WANTS him to be involved. She already knows he's a great father. This is only the second to last episode. We don't even know the full context of it all, so don't go jumping to conclusions just yet.

You guys all hated Brennan during the spoilers for Con Man, but that turned out well, did it not?

Sophie said...

I agree, without it being acted out, we don't know what the context of the statement, "If you can't... I'll ask Fischer," comment. There's nothing that actually says she's playing him. For all we know, she's pretty sure it makes him uncomfortable, because of the Parker thing, and she's offering him an out. He can't stand the idea of it being anyone else, but she may not be aware of it.

Anyone else think this whole thing is related to the other spoilers? I mean, Booth seeing Stewie implies that he's delirious--either through his health or by being drugged. We knew Booth would get sick somehow. We also know there's supposed to be some kind of series of attacks on the lab by the end of the season. DB said in the EW interview that we haven't seen the end of the Gravedigger... and since Lucky Luc doesn't count as he was the result of the head injury... the only time before this was when Booth saw Teddy... after being captured and drugged by the GD. Hmmm...

Anonymous said...

Actually Brennan says 'I'm not asking you to be involved . . All I want is your sperm''

I don't think it could be made any clearer, she only wants his swimmers

The sides indicate that all Brennan cares about is being a mom and doing it alone. She doesn't care about him being involved. She must of told him several times in the epi, she just wants him to donate. Why else does Booth say after he agrees to do it 'Don't worry, your kid' & why Booth stresses out, says if he can't be involved she isn't having it.

Anonymous said...

Brennan is manipulating Booth. She has been going on and on about him donating. He is hestitating. Then just to push it even further, she plays the card 'Fisher makes monthly donations' then when Booth agrees, she smiles. Like the cat that got the cream.

I just can't stand the way Brennan is behaving. If that isn't playing anyone. I don't know what is.

And way to make Booth feel special, she has already other men lined up - her second choice to have her kid is Fisher. WTF!

Anonymous said...

I am so glad that people are starting to realise what type of woman Brennan really is. The old story that is her style and she thinks about things rationally does not cut it here. How could she think if Booth does not do this she will get somebody us? This is emotional blackmail. I really hope that Booth tells her to get lost and for her to get somebody else. The writers ALWAYS make Booth out to be a lovesick and jealous. Yet they never never let Brennan show any real love affection for Booth. If Seeley Booth agrees to this I for one will be really disapointed in him. This idea is worst than a bad joke.

Booth Lover said...

Anon, Good point!!! Watch for all the Brennan defenders come out now.

Christina :-) said...

I said this already, but...

Remember how much you all hated Brennan when the Con Man spoilers came out? You were all prepared to hate Brennan for going out with Jared or whatever. It turned out better than we thought, with Brennan calling Booth her alpha male.

I know this is over said, and over done, but I think we should just wait and see before hating Brennan for it.

Booth Lover said...

Yes she defintely called Booth her alpha male but only after she most defintely felt he was a loser. She admitted that in her conversation with Jared. Why do people always have to make excuses for her. Can you imagine how much respect Booth will lose with the fans if he agrees to this.

Rebecca said...

lol.. a lot of people are reacting as if these characters are real people deserving of respect and/or scorn. I guess the producers of the show have done an excellent job of making the show real for us! Let's just see how it goes.

Jean said...

i dont see what the problem is here. there are 10 episodes until this airs. it seems to me that she just wants a warm happy family with him and, not understanding this urge per usual, sees it as biological and thinks that it can be dealt with without any 'soft' stuff. so long as she comes around...
it was booth's realization at the end of the episode that he wants to be a real father to his child that made me think all the silly hallucinations and detatched sperm talk was really the show's clever, funny, darkly humorous way of introducing these really serious issues. im pumped for stewie.
SO EXCITING

stewie said...

my favorite quotes so far are the 'you like spacial orientation, dont you? you do!' and the comment about the hot doctor friend and the direct deposit. ahahaha

im psyched for this episode...I don't think it will be as OOC as everyone is making it to be!! I think a very natural/inherent part of Booths character is that he likes to see Brennan happy..this is just a little more extreme. however, the stewie thing pisses me off!! The hallucination itself is fine, but STEWIE?? why stewie?? its so random!!! I dont care if they are trying to bring some comedic relief to a serious scene, did the person have to be animated? really? why?!? weird weird WEIRD decision if you ask me, also i don't really like how sometimes they just bring in other fox shows, like they mention fringe and now stewie, bones is its own seperate and amazing show, we dont need other shows to come in and make it better!
but still. im psyched about this episode, not even stewie can ruin it for me

I think Stewie makes sense to me. For one thing it has been recently stated that Booth watches too many cartoons. Also Stewie is a 'Genius Baby', with Brennan being intelligent and all and wanting a baby, it kind of sums it up. Sure it is completely out of this world and Stewie is a nut job, but I couldn't think of a better character for Booth to hullucinate could you?

Hey Wendy, there's an interview of Emily Deschanel about the season finale on Buddy Tv. This is the link:

is there going to be a season 5??? (please say yes!!)

Just saw the episode!! said...

I live up in Canada...just viewed the episode...The ending unfolds very fast and is quite intense.

The hallucinations (including Stewie) are all due to a brain tumor. VERY emotional ending...but Bones herself said "Statistically" Booth will be fine. Cam also recognized that this type of tumor is usually benign.

and near the end.. i almost cried! teary eyed.. shocking! and yet so sweet, with the gestures i mean!. sigh

guys you'll love the episode :D

just OMG!!!! AND WOW!!!

ALL SMILE.. and love it to bits.. :D it was beyond what i expected

isn't somethig wrong with brennans head to. I mean when booth was kidnapped by the grave digger and saw parker the guy from the army brennan saw him to when she was waiting for booth at the grave yard. Remember he said "isn't it just a beautiful day to be alive." She replied "yes"

Anonymous said...

I already saw the ep too - this ep right now tops my list of fave eps...

very very powerful ep - David Boreanaz deserves an Emmy for just this ep alone... love & vulnerability just shone through his eyes... Emily was just as wonderful...

and the rest of the cast - amazing - in the last scene... I truly felt they were a family trying to keep it all together... Sweets was the one who opened the floodgates for me and then, onwards, it was just so intense...

THIS is why I love Bones... Hart you didn't fail us on this one...

I cheated and watched online, haha. I was just too worried about this episode to know it was already online and not watch it. It wasn't anywhere near as bad as I expected. I still hate the possibility of her having a baby anytime soon, but the fact that she basically just blurted it out in a "what comes to mind" game made it better, haha. Loved Angela's reaction to it, too.

I wish the parts about Booth and his brain tumor had been a little bit longer, but I'm guessing those 5 minutes were simply setup for next week.

DawninDenver said...

Ugh I hate Family Guy- but am still psyched to see tonight's episode. I think that Brennan being a literal thinking scientific woman would see how overpopulated the world is already and realize it is not logical to add to that problem. But- Booth is too delicious to pass up huh?
