OMG did Hodgins just flirt with Brennan. What was that look? Is there something there?! Am I insane or did anyone else just notice that?

Anonymous said...

It was really creepy. I agree. There is no need to do that again. And sweets abnd angelas dad one word, funny!

Lots of good little bits in this one. I like the Texas justice at the end. :)

I did not like the welder they brought in as a suspect--the condescending attitude when he said "I'm an agnostic" really irked me (makes the rest of us look bad).

The last bit where Brennan is talking about intelligence, I didn't so much mind her ripping on Sweets, since she has since he started, but I didn't like that she said Angela was unintelligent, since Angela invented the freaking Angelator and has done SO much with various software programs--not just off-the-shelf ones, but ones she designed. Hrmph.

I still think Booth is somewhat faking being dumb for some reason. I did like that he's watching Discovery Channel with Parker (who, if he's anything like my nephew of the same age, loves the "Blowing Stuff Up Show" aka "Mythbusters").

The mid-ep recap was different. I'm not sure what to make of it.

Cute episode!!! Good case and good comedy! Loved Angela's dad being back!

Oh! And one more thing (another long run-on):

Brennan leaning over Booth when he doesn't get up seems to be some sort of recurring theme/camera angle.

OMG that ending was
i cant stop smiling (was Hodgins dreaming?) omg i say Steven Fry in the promo
did u see all of the relationship Q's in the first promo
i'm still giggling/ smiling over that eppy

I will admit that the last few episodes have been lacking but this one has more than made up for it. There was a bunch of great brennan and booth moments (You're the only smart person i like.) I didn't piece together the case til the end. Also i can see how they are sort of setting things up for the finale. Can't wait until wednesday. It's going to be interesting.

That was a GREAT episode!

Fantastic B/B moments, great case...the ending had me (literally) LMAO.

One of the best of the season, IMO. :)

Good Episode!!! Liked everything about it. Booth is the smartest one of them all when it comes to common sense. It seems like every other episode Brennan has something to say about his intelligence. Is it me or has anybody noticed how thin Brennan appears in the last few shows?

aww! This episode was so cool! I knew there would be some good B&B momments... Although the end (the Hodgins tattoo) was kinda weird... Overall good ep. ㅅ_ㅅ

@Pauline, I thought Hodgins was flirting with Brennan too!

And I totally LMAO at the turkey bouncing all over the lab!

good ep
LOVED the end, and i love cam being the mom
"YOU ARE GROUNDED" and so on with them not allowed to be in the same room. Nigel-murray has always been my favorite but this episode really made him shine
GO VINCENT NIGEL-MURRAY

Jen said...

I loved the tattoo!
I liked this episode. Sweets confession on his Angela crush to Hodgins was great! It's intersting that in a show where so many of the characters are devoted scientist they are able to do an episode that shows a darker side to life in the lab.

This episode was amazing. The wall scene was good. And the "escape" before the lockdown was just so cute. The hand holding, and the flirting. The talk about Booth being a "prude". I just loved Booth and Brennan tonight.

Brennan was hilarious tonight. And Emily is amazing. She is really quite good at comedy. Hodgins and Nigel-Murray were a hoot. Sweets was great. Cam on top of things again. I love this show.

And "ZZ DAD" was great, too. Angela always delivers...the turkey. Man, how much do I love the characters.

Anonymous said...

I loved this episode! One of my favorites of the season. The past few episodes weren't all that amazing, but this is Bones the way it should be.

Anonymous said...

I adore David. He is so funny and hot. He looked amazing! And Booth needed a hug in this epi, he took a hit. Love the alpha male that is Booth!

Anonymous said...

Brennan is getting to big headed. She was just mean to everyone, insulting infact. I felt bad for Booth and Angela, they don't deserve to be demeaned like that.

Anonymous said...

David rocked in this epi, he looked hot and was so charming! He rules!

Dani said...

great ep.. back to what they do really well...

Shep said...

I loved Booth in this! So funny!

I thought the scene in the resonance chamber would be serious but Brennan's screeching just cracked me up!

Loved the return of the ZZ, and the eperiments too - bouncing turkey, lol.

But was Hodgins dreaming at the end?

I didn't like the welder guy either.

anna kristine said...

There's something off about Season 4. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but it feels a little...scattered. Like the writers are just filling in all the epis leading up to the finale, where the real action should've picked up from the end of Season 3.

Shep said...

I think that may be because the tone of Season 4 is so much lighter. I'm hoping for a dark, gritty episode in the future.

Anonymous said...

@anne kristine

I agree.. I even think that in a bid to halt the evolution of B/B relationship they are making Brennan (dare I say it) less likeable....watching some of the epi I have felt more and more like telling her "come on you are past that now"...talk about character regression... I don't know...might be the frustration at the similingly lack on continuity/ consistency talking....

Amanda said...

I don't think the tattoo was a dream, but I do think a protective father was involved. :)

I laughed so hard when Brennan told Hodgins he didn't need to do the experiment, math was enough.

"But, I'm already set up!" I loved the disappointed tone, since I was also disappointed that he had everything set up and couldn't use it.

B&B's escape was cute--I also noticed the brief hand-holding. Their talk while sitting on the floor in the hallway was pretty sweet.

Angela said...

Aw I LOVED this episode! It can be one of my favorites ever! it was so cute and funny, I really laughed a lot! Angela's dad, the turkey, the tattoo, the blind guy punching Booth... and then all those BB moments and the end :-))
Great episode!

Angela said...

oh, and Nigel-Murray! I love him! he's definitely my favorite intern! in this episode he was really great! he goes along with Hodgins like Zach did (the experiments and the "King of the Lab" in The Bones that Foam) and the thing that I liked is that he goes to the diner with the others! I think so far he's the only intern who hangs out with the rest of the team after work ;-)

Anonymous said...

loved the episode. Nigel-Murray really brings out the best in Hodgins. Booth and Bones were adorable.
My only gripe is the way they treat all smart people/scientists as if they are socially inept and robotic. This kindof bothered me about Brennan at first, but she has been developed into an interesting, multi-dimensional character. You can understand her hangups.
The institute full of wierdos was a bit much. Most scientists are NOT uber-rational robots.

sciencefan said...

I loved this episode so much that I can't pick one favorite moment, but here are some:

The look on Brennan's face after touching the radioactive chair was priceless - I rewound like 5 times.

Brennan saying, "and angela, hmm not so much."

Brennan going directly Booth after rejecting the blind guy to see if his jaw was OK - sooo sweet!

And obviously Booth pushing Brennan into the wall in the beg of the ep.

Can't wait til Wednesday!

1. Yes! two bones episodes next week! I am beyond happy.

2. there were SO many good B/B moments in this one! but I am surprised the post above me is the first to mention brennan touching booth's face at the end. wow was it sweet- reminded me of the end of 'judas on a pole'

3. i DIDNT like nigel murray because i am tired of watching cam and hodgins same old reactions to him. it takes time away from letting the characters just be their awesome selves when they're always scoffing or raising eyebrows.

4. yes, sweets crush confession! and YES tattoo!!!!!!!

5. boo on Brennan insulting Angela's intelligence. but from that little speech i really have no idea what she defines intelligence as which reminds me of 'depends on how you define intelligence' at the start of the episode.

overall, besides thinking they've been trying a little too hard to be funny all the time, i loved this episode.

Anonymous said...

Any particular reason that Angela didn't have a GIANT black eye? She got hit in the face with a projectile flying frozen turkey!!! Would have made the "Texas Justice" at the end make a little more sense, too...

Poetic_line said...

I loved the episode, especially how Booth said he was a "cool and sexy guy". It reminded me of the Steve Martin/Dan Ackroyd "wild and sexy guy" humor on Saturday Night Live.

Booth was so cute and looked like he was ready for Brennan to take him up on something more than banter.

I loved how Brennan was so awkward with her remarks about Booth being stupid and trying to make him feel better and finally after much struggle, she found the right words to compliment him.

It just goes to show what she said was right about Booth knowing how to use intelligence and highlights the fact that sometimes she doesn't know how to use her intelligence like in a conversation with Booth and finding the right words.

I am looking forward the the Booth Brennan relationship heating up.

em-jay said...

Poetic_line: thanks for clarifying that line Booth delivered. I think my TV blipped for a second, and I couldn't tell what he said.

And I LOVED when she told him that "every element is your element." She has so much faith in him (even if she won't call it that).

umm what hand-holding - did I miss something? could someone please tell me around when in the ep tht was?

i just loved this episode....just the rite mixture of humor...science and everything bones....totally cool....
bouncing turkey...Texas justice...Angela's dad...Nigel-Murray,,i loved it all...
brennans reaction "i touched it with my bare hands see"...how cute was she???
sweets "i secretly had a thing for angela"(well i thot he secretly liked brennan!!!!)and hodgins reaction...hilarious!!!!
i just loved the BB interactions in this episode...rite from the start "sports terms bones..remember we talked abt this"...the whole metamorphic marks conversation..."u are the only smart person i like"...and the last scene...and not to mention the slamming against the
wall and running of together...
on the other side though...i dint like their treatment of scientists.."completely rational human beings"???please....
n ya i was wondering y angelas was sans a black eye too????

Anonymous said...

Wow, what a great ep.

It is the way Bones should be! The humor wasn't too over the top - it was an extremely smart episode - everyone in the cast was on their game. The dialogue was spot on and the acting was phenomenal by everyone involved.

I really want to call this the best so far this season - especially after so many "meh" episodes filled with senseless dialogue and poorly written character development (if any).

That said, I also feel that Brennan's attitude is getting a bit old and it seemed a bit out of character for her to be so rude - not so much to Sweets, but more to Angela - who seems to be incredibly intelligent in my opinion, although she doesn't subscribe to the norm attitude/lifestyle that someone like Brennan admires.

BUT Brennan seemed to be opening up a bit in this one, and definitely much more flirtatious. She seemed find the wall throw tantalizing with Booth being the one who didn't seem to catch it. And did you catch the way she eyed Booth at the meteor? It was extremely subtle but incredibly effective.

Just smart all-around. A mixture of everything good about the show. I hope the ones that follow keep this going!

cordy said...

I totally agree with the anonymous comment above. Great epi.Funny and smart, that's the way I love my Bones. And the flirting between B&B was just WOW. I'm so excited about the upcoming episodes until the season finale.

CrazieKC said...

I rewound it a couple of times to watch the hand holding in the chamber, right before the commercial break. It was so cute! I really am glad they're getting back to their relationship, I'll agree I was just 'meh' about the last few episodes...we needed a good episode.

and hell yeah for 2 episodes next week!!!

Anonymous said...

hodgins didn't flirt with brennan! he just loves her the way they all love each other. he and booth are pretty intuitive guys as far as guys go and they both were comforting her about not being accepted to the institute.

of course!

p.s. i cant wait till angela sees that tattoo!!!!!!

plutonium said...

when will sweets ever get any respect... or, for that matter, earn some???

Dani said...

with regards to Angela, she didnt actually get hit in the face, it was a 'glancing blow' to the side of her head, which is why there was no black eye.

anyone else notice booths tiny squeal as they ran through the doors to escape the jeffersonian?

did anyone else squeee with delight at the look booth gave brennan at the end of her little stupid speech when she finally redeemed herself?

dizzy.up.the.girl said...

Just a couple things:

1) I agree that Brennan shouldn't have insulted Angela like that, because we've seen proof that she's not just "artsy", but done some amazing work with computers. But it was redeemed for me by Brennan's sincere "You're Welcome" to Angela's sarcastic "Thank You". I love that Brennan is so awkward, yet has no idea.

2) I don't think Hodgins was flirting at all. I think he greatly respects her. I love moments like that from the team, especially from Hodgins. We know Booth is close to her, and Angela is her best friend, but it's nice to see Hodgins admit (just every once in a while) how much he admires her, and how much of a leader she is to the squints.

3) Loved all the flirting, as many people above me said.

Eli said...

Ya I didn't think Hodgins was flirting with Brennan either ... I think he tried to make up back what he had done to her earlier obeyed her advice not to blow the cannon.

And Nigel-Murray is so annoying and Sweets too.

And how many men or women out there have the same tattoo? Roxie should has one.

Overall I enjoyed this episode more because of the characters stories than the case.

christinaof94 said...

Can someone fill me in to what Hodgins said to Brennan?

My local news station cut into the whole scene with a tornado warning, haha.

christinaof94 you can watch the episode for free on www.hulu.com. :)

jenny said...

That was a very good episode indeed! Till now we had seen episodes that were more about the science and others that were more about humour and funny interactions (like Double Trouble) but this epi proved these two things can coexist perfectly!Together with some character development and a really interesting case where you couldn't in any way decide who you suspected most!
I agree with those who said that Brennan realised the significance of the "up against the wall" moment more than Booth!Yay!And yay for all the cute BB moments(hand holding,Booth's squeal-you're right Dani, protective and caring Brennan at punched Booth etc).Hodgins definitely didn't flirt with Brennan-and I love it when they show the connection between these two characters too,and the respect, remember Aliens in a Spaceship?
two-dimensional scientists bothered me a little, too. Cam-Hodgins-Nigel-Murray was great.
About the interns I have to say the show's writers and HH are VERY intelligent! To make us love them all, they seem to have spread Zack's qualities to most of them: Clarck is the more "scientific" one and the one that gets along with Brennan better than all the others.Vincent is the one that gets along best with Hodgins, helping in experiments and sharing some of his enthusiasm and other subtle things. Wendel is the one that gets along best with Booth, playing hockey with him etc-although Zack didn't have that kind of relationship with Booth, but I think you know what I mean. So, with every new episode,it is harder for us to decide which one we would like to be the one who stays-so we'll accept their decision to keep rotating them.Which, by the way, is o.k with me, because if they chose someone, it would mean they had found someone who can replace Zack-and to me, Zack is irreplaceable.
What I really miss, though, like Shep and others pointed out, is an episode really focused on Booth and Brennan, dealing with stuff that have to do with each other, like being there for each other on difficult situations-this "us against the world" feeling that was so present in S2.I think this shows in the best way how deep their connection is and makes them get even closer-we absolutely need an episode like that before the finale, in my opinion...

Angelator said...

This was my favorite episode this season. The interactions between all the characters was great!

Plus, hilarious lines! When they were leaving to avoid lockdown and Brennan said, "let Cam deal with it"!

Sciencefan pretty much covered all the other parts I loved.

I don't think Brennan thought she was insulting Angela. It's true that Angela doesn't have the same kind of intelligence that Brennan, Hodgins and Nigel Murray have. She was talking about that type of intelligence, not intelligence in general.

I watched the last part of the episode like 5 times -so funny! Between her saying Sweets' intelligence was useless and her sincere, "your welcome" to Angela's sarcastic thank you, I was dying!

Deepa Dev said...

I agree with jenny - Mr.Nigel-Murray seems at ease with Hodgins and Booth is comf with Wendell enough to play hockey with... these are the only two interns we've seen in non-work settings...

But Wendell has this little bro of the family vibe with the team, that Mr.Nigel-Murray doesn't (yet) have... lets see where HH decides to take this...

B&B in this ep were just so comf and flirtatious, my little shipper heart went 'awwww' so many times :D

like the others have said, Brennan touching Booth's face after Landis punched him, was just so natural & sweet... and I'm not even going to start about how often they gazed into each others eyes in this ep...

can't wait for wednesday!

tybonium said...

I really loved this episode, for the same reasons that most have already hit on.

I really don't think Hodgins was flirting with Brennan. He has known her a long time (longer than any of the other main characters). I assumed he knew about Brennan being rejected by the Collar institute, and maybe she took it a little harder than she is letting on. He just seemed to be reassuring her that she is the better scientist.

I really enjoyed all the sweet B&B moments. I really like it when they can mix them into episodes that still have a good case to work.
