great episode watched it last night I am in the uk but watched online enjoy everyone

Booth had a Steelers Mug. More evidence that he is from the 'burgh, not Philly, or just evidence that Steelers fans are inescapable?

I loved this episode! So cute when Bones straightened Booth's bow tie, and he brushed her hair off her shoulder.

i loved this episode!!!! especially the last 2-3 minutes when bones and booth are talking before her speech. omg i seriously thought that they were going to kiss!!! those dang interuptions at the last minute! ugh but yeah this was a good episode!!! bones and booth chemistry was amazing too! :)

Anonymous said...

at the end when they were standing soooo close, i was leaning in willing them to finally kiss! does this mean the end of dating booth's boss' boss? i hope so! no bones til november... what?

luscious said...

Anon 9.05pm Please tell me your kidding I am in the UK so did not get this. How can they do this to us PS when in November.

Wow...I bet that ending is going to have everyone squealing and wondering what would have happened if the squint squad didn't walk in at that very inopportune moment! They were totally leaning in to each other as if to kiss! Can't wait to re-watch.

Was it just me or was anyone else creeped out by the scene at the beginning when Brennan got all giggly with Daisy? Very weird.

I wonder if they're going to do anything more with Andrew? I wasn't sure if Brennan taking Booth to the exhibit was supposed to indicate that she was done with Andrew or not. Also, I totally think Andrew was miscast. Didn't that guy used to be on the Drew Carey show? He's such a goofball. Totally doesn't scream "assistant director FBI."

I enjoyed seeing Brennan get back to her roots with the ancient remains.

The Sweets/Daisy story was fine. Best part was Sweets asking Cam for advice. Again, creeped out by the Sweets/Daisy makeout scene. I like Sweets, but I do not see him as a sexual person so that was weird.

As commented about prior episodes, we need something to happen with Hodgins. He used to be an interesting character and is now just comic relief.

Enjoyed the episode...but then again, when don't I enjoy Bones?

I loved this episode. I almost died laughing when Brennan was reciting the lines of her favorite movie. The was a classic funny moment for me. My sister kept asking me to breathe. I also loved the ending,I wanted them to kiss so badly. That Adrew guy was in the Beverly Hillbillies movie. He played Jethro. It was so funny!!! But I love Bones more of course. Those squints better stop interrupting or I'm gonna scream.

OH MY GOSH. Total fangirl moment coming up, but this episode calls for it.

I think, so far, this has been my favorite season five episode (considering we're only 4 in, though, that is very likely to change). But wow, it certainly pulled through - Bones is most definitely back.

Points to Ponder:
Sweets and Daisy? Adorable. I used to dislike Daisy, but I think I am gradually warming to her character. Actually also kind of liked Andrew, not like some of the other creeps Brennan has dated. But as a total B/B fan, you can never really love someone who stands in the way - therefore was very glad the end scene played out like that. Wiped any notions that they might not happen right out of my head (um, hello - he was SO going to kiss her).

Wow. I'm still totally blown away. Great character action, great storyline, great everything. Can't wait for November!

I loved the episode, but knowing HH like we do he will keep this dork Andrew Hacker around for a few episodes just to provide angst and to keep Booth and Brennan separated.
Five years and they still have Booth getting jealous. Come on.

This episode felt a little soap opera-esque and cheesy to me. There were parts that I loved (the scene where Booth plants the egg on Bones' desk) and parts that I absolutely hated (Brennan and Andrew's ridiculous non-chemistry on their date). What I love about BONES is that it is a smart if slightly goofy rom-com procedural. Last nights episode had all the elements of greatness but stole a few too many cues from soap operas (the interrupted at the last minute routine...Bones not answering Angela's question about sex with Booth...)

Dani said...

OMG.. i loved this episode.. i yelled at the tv when booth did the lean in at the end... then hyperventilated then squeeeee'd a bit...
i really really really really love the direction this season has gone in.. its back to the good old days of the earlier seasons and just keeps getting better...
I cant actually believe that they could ramp up the sexual tension between these two.. but i was so very very wrong!!
Was everyone as impressed as i was with the look on booths face when Andrew mentioned the egg in the meatloaf? Could DB honestly be any better at conveying a tonne of emotion with just a look? And that moment when Brennan looks at Booth smiling about the recounting of the egg story, then the look changing the way it does when she realises its just their stuff alone? ED and DB give off such amazing emotions with just a look, its why i love these two and this show so very much!!

Nano said...

I loved when brennan kinda leaned in as she said "what goes on bettween us that should be ours". She like smiled and they both leaned in! Ekkk i loved it!!!!! The case was amazing and the still totally disquishable dead body was amazing!! What can i say but amazing!

OMG. My heart was beating so fast at the end...I totally thought they were gonna kiss!! Curse you HH!

Fay said...

Does the straightening tie and brushing hair thing totally remind you of certain scenes in the Season 4 finale? Better yet, this time it happens for REAL :D

@Dani, I agree, the two scenes you mentioned (Booth's reaction upon Andrew's mention of the meatloaf story, and Brennan realizing it was something between only the two of them) are excellent examples of what great actors DB and ED are. They can convey a lot of emotions without saying anything.

I hope someday when Booth looks back at the "meatloaf incident", he could see it from a different angle, and realize that it’s more about Brennan couldn’t help thinking of him on a date (and not the first time babe!) than about her obliviously letting something slip

lyssie95 said...

ok was i the only one who totally saw a baby bump on ED?
it was noticeable especially when she leaned back during the restaraunt scene.

Lisa said...

Totally loved this episode. It was great to see what happy & passionate anthropologist Brenna is. A little less methodical & more the excited over a discovery type thing. Plus, I too was yelling at the TV for them to kiss @ the end. This was a GREAT episode altogether.

Cindy Sue said...

Ah, I'm literally giggling @ Brennan and Daisy's excitement over the mummy! Love it so far! :o)

I know what you´re talking about, the same thing happened on last episodes from season 4. But it seems like a wardrobe malfunction. Check on the season 4 finale and you will see a normal ED body shape.

Kate said...

Hey, it's the other Kate! Hi! Fun episode, I was not disappointed. This intern redemption thing has me worried. My man Wendell was a lock before Arastoo and Daisy got rehabbed. Bummer that the baseball playoffs have bumped Bones for the month, but what can you do? At least the season didn't start in November.

To Lyssie95--I think it's just the dress. Emily appears to have gained some weight in the last ~six months (so she's normal skinny and not deathly model skinny) and the costumers keep putting her in empire-style clothes. Trust me, an empire waist with the hint of a pooch makes you look pregnant.

Eli said...

I have to say that this episode is the best episode among season 4 and 5. Did not like episode 1 because of Cyndi Lauper - so irritating and Daisy just looks like like the young version of CL but times 100 of annoying.

It is funny to see Brennan is channeling Daisy and Hodgins and Angela look surprised. Kind of expected from the sides that what ever possess Hodgins and Angela at that room will possessed Sweets and Daisy.

I felt pity to Cam in the ending scene where everybody kinda have partners but she was alone.

I surprised with this Oswald I think he brought the character alive.

Anonymous said...

He definitely looked at her mouth when they were turning away to face the team.

olivia said...

Ok first of all SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! But that is a given!

I really liked the mystery. It has been awhile since their case has been so science focused and I liked that. Plus, the fantastic scene with Brennan quoting the movie. So classic!

@fay- I completely agree with the tie straightening! Good call!

Elizabeth said...

LOVED this episode! Can't wait to see all the fanfics that will come out of that last scene.:)

Jessica said...

OMG...loved this eps especially the scene with the egg and the endscene I thought he was gonna kiss her, they came closer and closer and I had the butterflies going *sigh* I was almost hyperventilating and I thought Brennan was really sexy towards Booth in the end scene with that dress, cleavage and bending towards him on the other side of the case with the ruby, and Brennan was nervous to speak she never get's nervous you think she was nervous because of Booth ?maybe she felt a sexual tension between them ;)
One to watch over and over again :D
have seen the end scene already 10 times *sigh*

Shep said...

I'll get this out of the way first: I, too thought they were going to kiss at the end but was surprised that we hadn't been spoiled on the scene, but then they didn't.

I was really interested in the case this time - I love a good mummy mystery.

Kate: I think I remember Booth telling Gordon Gordon that he was from Pittsburgh in 'Man in the Mansion'

Anybody notice that the actor who played Turnbull was Dr Ronald Meltzer in Angel Season 1 (the creepy stalker doctor with the detachable body parts)?

I loved that Brennan and Daisy had squealy anthropologist moments and I liked Daisy a little more in this episode. Mind you, I do say alittle.

I loved it when Booth talked to Brennan about the egg - probably my favourite scene.

What I was also really glad of was that Brennan mentioned something about justice for the mummy even though he'd died 3000 years ago - it's been a while since we've heard something about Brennan eagerness for the truth and justice.

A few um..issues(?) though - I know Stephen Nathan loves the Bones ick factor and so do I, but I swear I saw Dr Caswell's upper torso skinned! Why did Cam have to skin her? And also the brain chopping - eeew! It was like she was cutting cheese or something, was that really necessary?
One more thing - I'm pretty sure Ancient Egyptians often did paint the heads of some canopic jars.

Dani said...

Shep, you know that dissection of the brain is just how pathologists actually check for injuries, anomalies, etc...

when i was doing work experience in a medical laboratory, i got to work in the histology section, the Pathologist there let me sit in on his examinations.. they slice thru bits and pieces just like Cam was doing in that ep... its gross and fascinating all at the same time

Eli said...

@Shep
It is for normal autopsy, she needs to check cause of death. For the brain, I think she wanted to see the diagonal/cross section of the effects of the weapon.(How deep it went)

May be the intern for Dr Kaswell will be the new intern for Brennan.

Where is Angela when Hodgins mentioned that he and Kaswell did flirting ...

Anonymous said...

Loved this episode, especially the bits between Brennan and Daisy.

I kept waiting for Brennan to throw in his face his relationship with Cam when Booth kept complaining about dating bosses though...

Does the gore seem especially gory? Or maybe the corpse is more 'person looking' than a bunch of bones.

luscious said...

I loved this episode from start to finish. The case and the excitement Brennan showed for it was great, its nice to see how much she loved what she does and how much she cares for justice. I always like it when she lets herself go it shows that she is quite normal. the reassurance that she gives booth in the interrogation room is good as its usually the other way around and he is obviously still a bit uncertain about his abilities there. I liked the discussion about the egg and how Booth went from very serious about that with his Bones and then to happy enough when Hodgins walked in. also when Booth was describing Brennan to Hacker if the man never took from Booths descriptions that he had feeling for her then he must be blind. but the end scene needed a kiss the squints need to stop interupting i am surprised at Angela you think she would know better. anyway i better stop typing and get to work.

gabriel said...

wow, i am thrilled with this episode, a bit disappointed by the failed kissing attempt but a part of me knows they couldn't do it just now (how would they continue then - all the awkwardness afterwards etc.).
I have to tell I was a bit struck by Brennan's big smiley face when she saw Andrew in Booth's office and how openly she flirted with him (found it a bit forced), and then throwing it in Booth's face in the car that they wouldn't think of him for a second on their date... That I think was a bit cruel from her, although I could find ways to explain it (eg. she actually wanting Booth to be jealous, or punishing him because he's not making a move on her - how d'ya like that? ;-)
I also think ED must have gained weight or else is pregnant. She is so much 'softer' than she used to be (reminds me of my early pregnancy).

Dijea said...

This was my most favorite of the season so far, but I have a few comments.

1) DO NOT LIKE ANDREW. I might like the character, but I hate the actor playing him. I hope he disappears.
2) Like the interaction between Bones & Daisy when they got so excited about the mummy. It was cute to have Bones show a little giddiness.
3) Sweets/Daisy makeout section looked like two horny teenagers. I realize Sweets is young, but it was awkward & strange. I would think as sensitive as he is that would have been a little more something.
4) I don't like where Hodgins character is going either. I've always liked him being slightly dark and this lighter guy is creeping me out.

I started to almost pant watching that moment where Brennan said what we do is between us. Seriously HOT, I was anticipating that kiss like I anticipated my first kiss. Sigh.....if only.

Anonymous said...

Did anybody else noticed that Booth wasn't jealous for a second in the whole episode? I was concerned till the end that he has cured from love and he is back as a partner only.

He was clearly more upset when he was asked for advise on Brennan from Sully but happy and cooperative when was giving advise to his boss.

Or maybe he is not jealous because he knows Brennan well too much and he knows that nobody has a chance to compete with him.

--Rosi

Jessica said...

@Rosi

I thought he was jealous when Andrew told him he was going out and asked Booth if there was anything going on between them that sigh from Booth when Andrew left his office (it sounded like he was upset) and then when Andrew told Booth it had been a while meeting someone Booth told him that Bones is just Bones with a sound in his voice and look on his face (well to me it looked like a loving look) and he was pretty persistent trying to get Bones to turn him down, well that's just how I perceive it.
He seemed pretty upset Bones told the egg story it seemed to me he haven't ever told anyone else that story. He tells her things he probably tells no one else that's love and trust :)

Anonymous said...

Great episode, i do wonder if Andrew will show up again to cause some more bumps. I have had a theory about Booth beinga Steeler's Fan and being from Philiy as we know he is a Flyers Fan. If Booth's dad was a fan of the Eagles, Booth might have learned to hate that team, also thinking the Steelers could be his Grandfather's team. Just a few thoughts.

Loved this episode. At fist I hated that Brennan was once again dating a random guy, but this time it pulled them so much closer that it was worth it.
Was anyone else wondering if that video camera that caught Hodgins and Angela was still on for Sweets and Daisy?

Anonymous said...

After last nights unexpected almost kiss, I am really hoping that the show will be able to keep it a secret when they do have their first kiss... i am now thinking that i would love to be surprised by it...

gabriel said...

oh and I forgot: who could believe for a second that Diedrich Bader is a competition for David Boreanaz??? He seems anything but Booth's boss' boss. I can't take him seriously at all. He can't be Brennan's 2nd best for sure, not even a 3rd...

Anonymous said...

A question (sorry, wasn't sure where to post general questions):
Is Booth's father alive? And please don't tell me if in doing so you will reveal a spoiler! Do we know yet if his father is alive? Seems like there have been conflicting hints.

Thanks - Lisa 2

Dijea said...

I totally thought there was jealousy and annoyance when Andrew was talking to Booth about Brennan. I expected Booth to roll his eyes at the ridiculousness of it. ICK. I don't like him. He seems so comical and ridiculous as an Assistant Director.

I so want to be surprised when/if they kiss.

Fay said...

Speaking of surprise... a question for long-time fans: did you guys know about the X'mas kiss before the episode was aired?

Jessica said...

@Fay

I didn't know but when I knew it was a X-mas eps I was fantasizing about a kiss under the mistletoe and Santa must have known about my wish ;) because I got my wish *sigh*

Anonymous said...

This is my first time commenting, although I read everyone's great thoughts and insights. I just have to say though that I didn't pick up on any Booth jealousy. More frustration. He made a choice not to tell her how he feels, and he knows how dazzling she is, why would he think that he would be the only one that noticed. I just thought he was kind of mad at himself, and frustrated that he felt like he had to watch her do this again, because he wasn't comfortable enough yet to tell her. I am sure he still feels a lot of self doubt from the coma.

And then she did the one thing she asked him not to do...talk about him. To me he had to lay it out, and he did so beautifully...what is between us is ours. He doesn't want her to share it with anyone, not just because the guy is his boss or is dating her. She is special to him. And I love that he told her and more importantly I love that she got it.

Loved this episode!

Regarding the sport teams thing, I think that is based on David's personal preferences. He grew up outside Philly and is a Phillies and Flyers fan. He is a Steelers fan for some reason I don't understand. Booth is supposed to be from Pittsburgh, however. It is mentioned in the ep where Hodgins knows the murder vic.

Stephanie said...

@Fay - If I'm remembering correctly, they teased the mistletoe kiss in the promo for "Santa in the Slush," so yes, we knew beforehand. And I remember some articles and promo pics and stuff and everyone being excited, so I think a good portion of the fans knew before it aired. But I'm really wanting to be surprised when they share their first real kiss, too. I looooove spoilers, but that's the one thing I don't want to know about early.

yummy yummy! said...

oh dear god, i loved that final scene. i thought he was going to kiss her. clearly he wanted to...

em-jay said...

If I remember correctly, he used to be a ball boy for the Steelers, right?

em-jay said...

...DB, not Booth. Sorry.

Fay said...

Thanks Jessica and Stephanie for your reply! One more question on the subject: did you guys know that it's a blackmailed (i.e. not real) kiss from the spoilers?

About where Booth is from: it's true that in "The Man in the Mansion" he said he's from Pittsburgh, but he also told Brennan that he's from Philly in "The He in the She". This discrepancy has had me wonder for a while. It's either a continuity issue, or, he could have grown up in a place then moved to another, esp. if he first lived with his parents then with his grandpa.

As for DB himself, is he a Steelers fan? I remember him mentioning the Eagles in some interview. Is it odd to be a fan for two football teams?

Stephanie said...

I didn't know that it was the result of blackmail, no. I think the article I read on it said that the kiss was real (as in not a dream,) would not disappoint, and involved steamboats, haha. I'm curious. Why are you asking about their Christmas kiss?

As for your football questions...definitely NOT my area of expertise! Hopefully someone else can help you out.

Fay said...

@Stephanie

I just started watching Bones sometime during Season 4 and I'm into anecdotes, that's all. Is that weird? So it seems the words all got out before the fake kiss/sex scenes. I hope when/if the real one comes, they will do a better job hiding it and surprise us all!

Jessica said...

@Fay

At that time I didn´t see any spoilers so I didn´t know there was going to be a kiss and def not a blackmailed one but in this case the blackmailed kiss was fun they were both feeling a bit akward afterwards so it did something to them

Fay said...

Oh and now I remember why the X'mas kiss is special to me. It's when ED mentioned it when she was on Jimmy Fallon's talk show that got me all curious and started watching the whole show from the beginning!

Hi,

Something's bothering me... Is Emily pregnant?

I kept on going back to some scenes and I can't help but notice. Aside from her gait, her arms and her chest look bigger. Even her face.

I took a screenshot, with her date with Booth's boss... here it is:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v607/AAA111/vlcsnap-2009-10-17-00h06m28s6.jpg

Anonymous said...

I too have noticed that she looks a little heavier than in recent episodes. Don't get me wrong she looks great with the extra weight. She seems to be walking differently also. If in fact she is pregnant I really hope it's not with that guy she dates. OMG NO!!!

kit said...

ED is definetly preggers! or shes gained a lot of weight in the past year or so

Anonymous said...

@AAA111

Here is a proof http://www.fanpop.com/spots/bones/links/7614422 that she is pregnant.

Anonymous said...

What if they come up with a storyline where Brennan used Booth's "stuff" and got pregnant? Heehee... No, just joking, this is unlikely. But I wonder what they would do if ED turned out to be expecting a baby. She really looks it, no wonder so many of us noticed. It might not sound as a nice compliment if she is not, I know, probably just gained weight due to her foot accident?

Stephanie said...

I highly doubt she's pregnant. She said she was a size 8 on a talk show a few months ago, which is not exactly the standard size of most actresses, so that's why people are noticing. And she specifically said she wasn't pregnant back in June at the Monte Carlo TV Festival. Plus, these episodes were filmed in July/August. It's now October. Look at some of her recent photos (there have been some pics of her within the last two weeks.) If she were pregnant, it would definitely be very noticeable by now. Emily's just a normal-sized woman, and I personally love that she didn't have to be a size 2 to get a leading role on television.

Abby said...

If ED does turn out to be preggers..... Baby Bardot has a playmate. :D

Anonymous said...

I think it's her wardrobe that makes her look pregnant

Anonymous said...

Agree that Emily probably isn't pregnant. I remember everyone having this exact same discussion at the end of season 4 saying that she looked like she was pregnant. Pretty sure that it is just her wardrobe.

Steph :) said...

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepp!! agree? that last scene i've probably rewatched about 10 times :) awesome episode!

Anonymous said...

What I liked in this episode:

- All the parts that is supposed to make me happy. Like the egg and last scene.

- The fact that Brennan dumped her date with the first excuse and told Angela that they're just having drinks.

And didn't care about the following parts:

- Booth's silly laughter at the unfunny facts between Leland and Brennan before entering curator's office. He used to scoff at these sort of comments.

- Booth's smile after assuring his boss about Brennan's motives. He should have looked sad.

Dani said...

i agree with most here, her wardrobe person should be shot, she's made to wear dresses that even on pole thin gals would make them look big... on a beautifully sized and shaped ED, they make her look bigger on TV then she actually is.
She has always said and maintained that she is a size 8 woman and doesnt feel the need to conform to the uber thin mindset of the rest of LA.
I remember back in Season 1 her being the exact same size and shape she is now, but back then she wore alot of pants/flat jackets, now they are making her wear those horrible dresses that dont do her smoking hot body any favours.
Its sad that a woman as beautiful as ED is subject to constant speculation that she is pregnant, just for looking like a woman should...says alot about society as a whole dont you all think?

gabriel said...

To Dani: I don't think that a woman should be as thin as a catwalk girl, but I do think ED must have gained some weight and isn't as athletic as she used to be in earlier seasons. I am sure her wardrobe does not do her figure any justice (and I personally hate it). It's no problem she looks the way she does, but people watching the show notice the difference and it's OK.

Justin said...

On a whole different topic altogether... does anyone remember the epi Brennan mentioned to Andrew on the date? The one where someone was beaten by a stratocastor. I mean, I remember a lot of episodes, but the vague, blase ones tend to dissappear in my mind. Was it even an episode, or did it hapen before the BB partership?

Dani said...

Gabriel, please please dont think that was in any way directed at folks that blog on here... i meant society as a whole.. not here.. sorry if ive offended :)

Jessica said...

Did anyone else notice that Booth was peeping into Brennan's cleavage when he sat on his desk and she stood beside the desk with the blue dress (when they were questioning that Dr. I can't remember his name) I also notice that Brennan is dressing much more feminine, she is wearing a dress more often, love the egg- and endscene the gazing in each others eyes and the leaning in to each other def a kiss moment *sigh(

Anonymous said...

@Jessica

Good observation. I don't think it was part of transcript. It looked like DB peeping at ED.

Jessica said...

@anonymous

maybe it wasn't in the transcript but I was wondering if anyone else noticed it :)

gabriel said...

Dani - i am not offended at all, i have a lot more overweight to lose than ED, so i would be the last one to judge her. I just don't like her new clothing, I preferred the kick-ass girl in jeans and shirts/blouses (in these dresses i wonder if she is ready for any action at all).

Not to belabor the point about ED's wardrobe, but I really miss her funky, unconventional jewelry.

Cheryl said...

I agree that Booth didn't look jealous but then u also need to remember that he hides deep feelings & Bones has a PhD in pretending emotions do not exist herself.

I've noticed since at least season 4 that he really doesn't waste time with the men in her life: he goes directly to her. (Wexler isn't special. You are. Mark & Jason don't deserve u etc). He's closer to her than any of them & he respects that r'ship by speaking to her abt each guy, voicing his opinion & then allowing her room to do what she wants. He does that here too: '...unlike dinner invitations that ur free to decline.'.

Booth may have been too distracted by describing Bones in answer to his boss' question abt whether she was going out with him because of his position to be jealous. I mean...he's practically talkin to himself abt how cool this woman is. Asst Dir who??? Is he even in the room?

Bones is forever hurting Booth with her manic obsession with logic. Really? Did she _have_ to say there was no way to know if Booth was the best FBI agent? Really? But of course, because that is a quantifiable variable & she knows exactly how to measure that...I think she uses her knowledge as a defense mechanism & boy oh boy is that shield ever up. I'm reeeeeeeeeeaalllly glad she fixed the egg screw up tho cuz that was her biggest betrayal of Booth in this ep.

Kudos to Ange for pointing out the obvious (Booth would rather u go out with him), Bren for misunderstanding (we go out 4 drinks all the time) & Ange for persisting(Oh & u don't think Booth wants to sleep with u?). I'm hopin The End in the Beginning is a major clue to where we're headed & that they allow each other to be more than a booty call, or a regular r'ship that eventually ends & actually build a lasting ormantic love on top of the awesome deep friendship they have going now. Oh & that HH gets us there _b4_ I'm old & grey. Pretty plz.

Cheryl said...

Re-watching the ep I can see that Booth is uncomfortable with Hacker askin if anything is goin on between him & Bones. But Hacker _is_ his boss & he's not her man (yet) so he really has no choice but to say no :(

@ Cheryl

I totally agree with what you said and I couldn´t have said it better
