Bones and Castle

I know a lot of you out there are Bones fans (otherwise you wouldn't be here...) AND Castle fans. Since day one, people have been talking about the comparisons and similarities between the two shows. Now, there is finally a "smackdown" (albeit subjective, according to their own words) about what's to like about each of the shows and how they compare.

Remember, there isn't anything at stake here, so let's keep the comments nice and just enjoy the fun of more publicity for our favorite show(s)!

Well, I was a bit surprised as I read this one, so I'm at a loss for words.

TV Guide's Must-Watch Finales

TV Guide has a photo of what may or may not be the Bones finale! They have it listed as a Must-Watch season finale.

Spoiler warning for the caption in particular. You could consider the picture a spoiler if you didn't want to know that Booth and Brennan would be in the season finale...oh, man! Now I've ruined it.

Bones Season 5 Pre-Order

The pre-orders have begun for Bones Season 5. There's no release date, and even if there were it would likely change. But if you want to jump in line to make sure you have your copy reserved, Amazon can help you out!

Season finale will air on the same night in the USA and Canada

Global TV (Canada) is airing the season finale of Bones on Thurs May 20th - not on Wednesday as it usually does. Fox will also be airing the finale, The Beginning in the End, on Thursday May 20th!

Seems like a fair move for the fans but maybe it's got more to do with 'Survivor' being over by then.

One simple letter in Season 2 has prompted a novel's-worth of speculation over the years as to its potential contents. Korbi TV went to the source to ask if we'd EVER find out what Brennan included in her letter.

What do you think? Is it better to keep it an unknown? What do you think the answers from Stephen Nathan and Hart Hanson mean?

DB's take on Booth's love life

Everyone, even David Boreanaz, has an opinion about Booth and his love life! Find it here.

Spoilers for tonight's episode.

Most Anticipated TV Kisses

Buddy TV has compiled a slideshow of the most anticipated TV kisses. Number 1 on that list are... Brennan and Booth.

Though Brennan and Booth have locked lips in the episode “The Santa in the Slush," their kiss in the 100th episode of Bones proved to be their most controversial and significant thus far. Not only did we get to see Booth and Brennan share a kiss while working on their first case together in flashback scene, we also witnessed Booth taking a gamble by professing his love for Brennan and kissing her in the present before Brennan rejects him.

A picture tease

Once again, Stephen Nathan teases us with a little TwitPic of the editing process.

Spoiler warning, though I'm not quite sure how to interpret the picture!

Spoiler clips

Fox has released some sneak peek clips of Thursday's episode, The Predator in the Pool.

Spoiler warning! Please keep speculation and comments confined to this post.

Moonlighting Effect? What Moonlighting Effect? ;-)

In the light of recent and upcoming storylines, the author of this article is pleading Hart Hanson to forget about the so-called Moonlighting Curse and 'give it a shot' (to quote Booth).

"We'd like to make a plea. Let them date! As Brennan says in this very episode, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome." Why continue to have them go back and forth, date other people and expect people to stick around to watch?
That sounds insane to us."

The article itself is spoiler-free if you've seen the 100th episode but I expect comments for this post will contain spoilers, so the spoiler warning applies.

Will David Boreanaz be remembered as Angel or Booth?

Even though Bones is still going strong, people are already wondering what role David will be best remembered for. If you have an opinion on this, go and vote here.

Right at the top of this page are two questions with very vague answers regarding the Season Finale.

Various perspectives on Will They/Won't They

We've heard what David Boreanaz thinks about Booth and Brennan, but here's some perspective on how Emily Deschanel sees the relationship. Spoiler warning, of course.

John Francis Daley has his own view of Sweets, his interactions with Booth and Brennan, and his book. Spoiler warning for the end of the article.

Is everyone ready to trust Hart Hanson? I hope you are, because even the show execs don't quite know where they're headed! Very light spoiler warning. On the verge of non-spoiler. Simply put--the director of the finale describes it in one word. Enter at your own risk.

Since two of the three links here include spoilers, please consider comments to be spoilers, as well.

Sky1 interview with David Boreanaz

This is a great interview with Sky1 and David Boreanaz. If you have already seen The Parts in the Sum of the Whole and The Death of the Queen Bee, MOST of the article is fine. As soon as you read about Robert Englund/Freddy Krueger, stop there to avoid spoilers for the rest of the season.

Don't even blink under DB's answer to that question.

SPOILER WARNING!!!! past that point.

(I really mean it.)

Here is a fun bit for those that don't want to risk being spoiled at all:
What has been Bones’ success?
The relationship between Brennan and Booth has dictated viewers’ enjoyment of the series. At times there’s so much humour in it that it’s hard to define it by genre. Is it a ‘dramedy’? It’s a crime-solving team of random misfits trying to come together and see eye-to-eye at the end of each show. It’s very enjoyable to make and it’s enjoyable to watch too.

I agree, Mr. B.

Win it before you can buy it: Reckless, by Andrew Gross

Once again, I have two copies of a new novel to share for free with you guys (I'm sorry, but it can only be shipped to US residents again).

This time we have Andrew Gross's new novel: RECKLESS

I'm keeping it simple - we'll have two contests:

I can't give you my own opinion yet because I don't even have my copy :) I will review it once I do.

About RECKLESS

An idyllic, suburban community is rocked when a beloved young, picture-book family-- a successful financial trader, his pretty wife and teenage daughter, are brutally murdered in their home in the dead of night.

Private security investigator Ty Hauck returns in RECKLESS (William Morrow, on-sale 4/27/10, ISBN-13 97800061655951, $25.99). He is completely shattered by the death of this family - the wife a close friend from his past - and will risk everything he loves to avenge her death. But he has no idea that he's about to step into the crosshairs of a sinister conspiracy...

Ty Hauck, along with Naomi Blum, a tenacious agent from the U.S. Department of Treasury, unravels evidence that reveals a reckless scheme that stretches from New York to London to Central Europe and gives new meaning to the phrase ‘too big to fail.’ What began with a tragedy that opened a door to Hauck’s past—a door that he thought was long closed—ends with a frantic race to avert a disaster that could shake the very security of our country—and even the world.

RECKLESS, the new high-concept thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Andrew Gross, launches readers into the grip of a staggering global conspiracy, part fact, part fiction, part worst-case scenario dread.

About the Author

Andrew Gross is the author of the New York Times bestsellers The Blue Zone, The Dark Tide, and Don’t Look Twice, and co-author of five no. 1 bestsellers with James Patterson. 10 Shows You Should Be Watching

Bones
Part crime solving procedural, part romantic comedy/drama, Bones has excelled at redefining whatever genre it is part of and driving fans mad with frustration as they wait for the Brennan and Booth to finally be together. Now 100 episodes old, Bones is not only defined by the relationship between Brennan and Booth (and some of the more disgusting moments in the lab) but also by patchwork quilt of a supporting cast. From bug guy Hodgens to facial reconstruction expert Angela to FBI psychologist Sweets to Jeffersonian boss Cam, the supporting players are as interesting and developed as the two at the top. But, make no Bones about it, the number one reason to watch this show is the interplay between David Boreanaz’s FBI agent and Emily Deschanel’s forensic anthropologist. For as frustrating as their push and pull can be at times, it is part of the charm of Bones. While the show thrives on the push and pull, fans will keep tuning in hoping for even the slightest bit of forward momentum. And when that momentum gets rolling, there really isn’t a show much more engaging than Bones.

All new episodes of Bones air on Thursdays at 8 p.m. (EST) on Fox.

TV's Craziest Fan Bases - Bones Fans Make the List

According to this article, Bones fans belong to the craziest fans in the TV world. Do you agree?

"It's difficult to say why, but some shows simply attract a different breed of supporters. Creepy, scary, insane supporters. And so we present TV's craziest fans, who've taken their love of TV to the next, sick level. Note: these do not represent the entire fan base for a particular show, just the extremes"

Bones
Insanity Level: 4 out of 10, uncomfortably eccentric

Part forensics drama, part forbidden-romance novel, Bones has attracted a fan base that places solving murders behind the "will they or won't they?" question. Bones fans aren't willing to wait until the show's producers come up with new storylines about Bones and Booth's love... so they write their own fan fiction. I know what you're thinking: "Big deal, everyone writes fan fiction." But do they also make Hollywood-style movie trailers for said fan fiction?

Said video "proof" can be found here.

And we are still talking about "The Parts in the Sum of the Whole"...

The 100th episode of Bones created a lot of reaction from the media, and the articles just keep coming!
Here are a few more:

Eric Millegan on returning for the milestone episode and if Zack might be back (the article is spoiler-free but I expect some speculation/spoilers in the accompanying video)

Emily Deschanel discusses what went down in episode 100 (The article is spoiler-free up to the last paragraph where an upcoming guest star and its role on the show gets mentioned. The video seems to be a bit more spoilery, though.)

Here is an interesting non-spoiler bit of explanation from that interview:
In the clip below, we talk with Ms. Emily Deschanel about when she was told about what had gone down way back when and how she felt about the whole thing.

"I liked the idea. I really did. I thought that they should have some connection, whether they sleep together or they kiss," Deschanel says. "I felt like it made sense. Even though I hadn't thought of that before ... I hadn't been playing the seasons as if that had happened, so it took an adjustment [at first]."

And what does Deschanel think about Brennan then shooting Booth down?

"I think that she's incredibly scared and when she says, you know, she doesn't know how she'll feel in five or ten years, I think [what she means is] that she doesn't know how he'will feel in five or ten years. I mean, this is somebody who was abandoned by her family, the people who were closest to her, so of course she's going to protect herself. And, you know, having a friendship with somebody who she loves is better to her than having a romance that could very easily go south and he could be gone."

Makes sense, no?

David Boreanaz on Brennan giving Booth the big thumbs down (Spoilers for the rest of the season but nothing new for those who follow spoilers.)

TWOP is finally showing Bones some love (spoiler-free)

Edit: Here is a non-spoilery bit out of that interview that I found and considered well worth sharing:

On my second viewing, I noticed David Boreanaz fighting back some tears in the closing scene. Were you expecting that heaviness of emotion?
David was both directing himself and acting, so the whole thing was a surprise – even a little bit to him and Emily [Deschanel]. When they’re in the scene playing that moment, emotions come up that surprised them and certainly surprised us. I think it was very, very subtle – he didn’t really want to cry, and I don’t think he did. Something just popped up there for a minute, and he wipes his eye. I love how he kept it together even though his world had come apart. It was a nice balance he struck. We were thrilled with the job he did on that episode.

If you'd like to comment on this but don't want to be spoiled please use the non-spoiler article post for your comment!
