Season 6 spoilers officially begin!

Well, we already have our first "clear" spoilers for next season! Ausiello checks in with Stephen Nathan to find out what results we will see post-finale.

Please keep any spoiler comments HERE on this post and NOT in the episode discussion thread.

Are you happy with his answer?

No, not really. I'm semi-okay with skipping a year. I mean, they have to do that now that they've separated everyone. The only real problem I have with that is that I'm really sad we won't get to see the beginning of Hodgins and Angela's marriage. They just got back together! And we're going to miss it.

I do hope we get to see the B&B meeting at the coffee cart. But I'm going to be really upset if they bring either of them back with a recurring love interest. I feel like we're past the point of the show and the B&B relationship where they can do that and get away with it/keep viewers. Honestly, this post and Stephen's answers kind of made it worse.

I'll be FURIOUS!!! I loved the finale (I'm apparently one of the few) but if EITHER of them (BB) comes back with a new love interest, I'll...I'm not going to say "be done with the show" because obviously I'll keep watching, but frankly, I'll watch "The Vampire Diaries" live and save "Bones" for DVR/Hulu, because that would make me so mad I'd want to throw my shoe through the television every night!

ayeeee this makes my head hurt. after that finale (which I did not like, at all) I'm really nervous about what season 6 will bring.

if either one of them comes back with a recurring character who happens to be a love interest I will scream! I've had just about enough of this "bones gets a boyfriend, booth gets jealous!" / "booth gets a girlfriend, bones get jealous!" nonsense. I'm not sure how much more I can handle.

I am so disappointed in this finale, I even liked last season finale better. Once more Hart promised us something that he couldn't/wouldn't keep- he said that we are going to dance on the street in our underwear from happiness after this episode (it was supposed to be that good).

But even though I am disappointed I know that I am going to watch next season,I am more afraid that a lot of fans are going to say that's enough and stop watching. That would be fatal for show's ratings and essentially the show itself. :(((((((((((

Stephanie said...

No, Hart wasn't the one with that "dance in the street" quote. A "show source" told us that. That was never 100% confirmed, and I don't think the last several episodes had even been written when that came out. Most fans just decided that quote was the truth and somewhere along the way attached Hart's name to it.

Anonymous said...

Okay,I'm sorry I attached this to Hart,I always blame him for everything. :))

Stephanie said...

Haha, well, Hart wrote the finale, so feel free to blame him for that! It just irritates me when people get called liars because of stuff they didn't even say.

Anonymous said...

I know, it irritates me too,but I was angry that I am going to be depressed hole day because of this episode so I didn't bother to check the facts. My inside Brennan so mad. :)))

Mayflower said...

I'm a die hard bones fan. Really. But if the start season 6 with Bones and Booth seeing other people, I'm going to be so mad! I mean, seriously?! I like it that they are separated during a year, but I really need that in season 6, there will be progress in their relationship, in a good way that is. Otherwise I'm going to be serious pissed off.

Anonymous said...

Im one of the few ppl that actually liked last years season finale, but am not feeling it this year. I actually haven't enjoyed an episode since 100. Anyway - agree with Stephanie - we are past the point of having them come back with love interests - that would be old, and I am quite certain Bones will become one of those shows I don't look forward to watching, but that I may watch when flicking. Which makes me sad, bc I used to enjoy it sooo much.

Anonymous said...

am i the only one who thinks that a year apart from Booth will make Brennan regress to being who she was when the show started?

so next season we can start all over again.....can't wait. :-)

chillip said...

everything really depends on the story development and the writing. as i said in the epi thread, these guys will have to hit the beginning of season 6 at speed and on their game.

i can also agree with the desire to shake things up -- i'd be all for putting almost everyone in a private setting (as it seems there's enough money for most folks not to have to actually work for a living), as long as that was a b&b vehicle (e.g. bones and husband like mcmillan and wife :) ) but i still don't think that'll happen.

but i do agree with those saying "please don't drag another love interest in" -- i think even if we don't see things move along immediately physically with b&b, there needs to be at least movement in making their emotional relationship much closer.

Anonymous said...

I'm kinda ok wid skipping a year but m gonna b sooooooooo mad if either bboth or brennan come baq with luv interest....

Meg said...

I agree 100%. No new love interests. That has been done! I also don't want to see a Ross/ Rachel dynamic where Bones is ready to commit and now Booth has brought a lady home with him. That would be devestating and a cop-out!

I am hoping the new characters are the FBI/ forensic anthropologist replacements....

Anonymous said...

I am afraid Season 6 is not for me. Guess I'll skip it. The game is becoming boring.
Another love interest is ridiculous. Not interested in watching.

firefairyangel said...

I think it makes sense for one or both of them to have another love interest. Did we all really expect them to wait a year for each other, without knowing for sure what they'd come back to? It wouldn't make sense. Even Sweets and Daisy, an already established couple, agreed it was best not to wait for each other.

I know people are getting sick of the whole jealousy angle, but it does fit the characters. I would expect that Booth comes back with someone fairly serious, meanwhile Brennan has realized her feelings for him and decided she wants to be with him. It would go beyond jealousy at that point, she'd probably feel even betrayed in a sense (not necessarily a rational response, since I'm sure she can logically understand that Booth needs to move on).

Sarah (#2) said...

Here's my (PURE FLUFF) idea:

What if . . .

Booth brings back a puppy dog. There's lots of tear-jerker stories about how U.S. soldiers find ways to bypass customs to bring back a furry friend that helped them survive the warzone.

I think Booth taking comfort in the paws of a four legged friend would be MUCH preferable to him taking comfort in the arms of a female soldier.

Vanessa said...

Ok, so here's my crazy idea:

There was some sort of theory about the beginnig of last season's finale being the end of this one. What about if next season starts with that scene? And then maybe something like "a week before" or something and we'd see how was it when they got back from their trips and saw each other.

Remember what Hodgins says: "What life is she leading? Is it the same life she was living half an hour ago, a day ago, a year ago?"

A year!!! Anyone? Is this too far out? xD lol Probably!

Muse said...

The episode left me so sad. I can accept change, but I'd rather have a cliffhanger of them being together or not. That would give me the summer to hypothesize and speculate happily and with hope. The idea they'll come back with people? Hope is crushed.

Wouldn't it be nice if the new character or two was just Hodgins and Angela having twin babies? Or at least a baby. Let me say again: BABY! Or maybe Angela pregnant...I want to have hope.

Vorpaks said...

In some ways it would make sense for Booth to have a new love interest and spark some sort of reaction from Brennan. But in other ways it doesn't fit his character. I think it would be very hard to make him realistically be in love with Brennan and be with this other woman.

So, I am hoping NOT. But admitting it is possible. I think they have other things they can focus Booth on. We know every last detail about Brennan, her past, and her quirks. We don't know as much about Booth. The details of his tough childhood, what events led up to him being tortured when he was a sniper, etc. I don't think his mother has ever been mentioned... I think there is enough emotional fodder there to fuel another season.

I am sure being back in the army, training young snipers to go out an die, probably will have some effect on him, and unearth some of his past. I'd rather see Brennan fall for him while he is distracted with this other stuff than see him with another love interest. But we'll see.

Personally, I liked the finale and I am very interested to see where they go in season 6. And I still like the cases, even if the romance doesn't go anywhere. I mean, someone, sometime, has to shoot the Gravedigger in the head, right? I'll watch just to see if Booth or Brennan gets to do it. Or maybe we'll get a shock and it will be Angela. Anyway, can't wait for fall! :)

@ Vanessa -- love your idea! :-D :-D

Honestly i cudnt care less...what with the finale(which was absolutely garbage) and again this senseless teasing on their part..i really dont think i'll be watchin past the first 4-5 epis...unless of course they do sumthn with BB
to quote Booth wen r they ever gonna learn?????

Anonymous said...

I liked the finale. I was mad at the end because i don't think that any die-hard Bones fan will ever like the fact that they don't run back into each others' arms when they turned around for the last time at the airport. I liked it however because it brought something different to the show. They're gonna be apart for the longest since they've been together (both B&B and the rest of the team)and so it gives them time to evolve without each other. That gives time for alot of things to happen that they may have to deal with when they return.

About the back and forth between B&B however, i think that it's time for them to take another step in the relationship. Even if they don't end up "together"(i think actually hooking them up officially would kill the show....it would take away all surprise for the duration of the show) Fans have been waiting really long for this and i think alot will stop watching if they do come back with other people. I do think though, that if only Booth comes back with someone, or he really takes moving on from Bones seriously, it will give her a little bit more perspective on things when she realizes that he has indeed moved on. I personally would keep watching if they did come back with new people until it becomes solid and they never step up in their romantic relationship.

My proposal is: something happens to Bones on her trip, or she finds out that Booth may stay in the armed forces and therefore put his life on the line in some way and she now is consulting sweets about telling Booth that she loves him. (like he did last season) Maybe because she she would die if she lost him or whatever happened in Indonesia made her realize that she loves him more than "a buddy" (Booth-season 5 episode 1 :) )

nina said...

i actually rewatched the finale and i love it. ive finally come to terms with the fact that the two will get together eventually and if the writers arent going to allow them to grow up fast enough to realize it then im actually OK waiting for it to happen. and i enjoy the very slow, careful, realistic, beautiful way brennan is overcoming her very firmly rooted notions on love and commitment, slowly but surely. i think making them all take a year apart is brilliant- they can really play around with their character development. maybe brennan will find something that 'challenges what it means to be human'. hodgins and angela will get to come back as a flourishing, adventure-seeking couple. im very happy that sweets and daisy are broken up because shes too one-note for him and we cant have EVERYONE paired off! i think we need to find more purpose for Cam and maybe this will help. the writers backed everyone into a corner and this not only lets them out, it lets them grow. and having to say goodbye and leave one another made brennan and booth visibly closer and more in love than ever.

as far as other relationships, bring it on. i loved brennan with sully, i like booth with the marine biologist, it brings more sides out, if they cant be together id rather not have them be tortured about it. and david said in an interview that the absence would make them "closer" next season. i really do think its a big step forward.

also, i dont think theyre going to COME BACK with love interests. i do think they're going to have really harrowing and intense experiences that they havent shared with one another and helping each other through them will be awesome for their relationship.

nina said...

ALSO... its way better than just making us all think booth got amnesia, or dropping the bomb that zack was a cannibal serial killer's apprentice. those finales made me REALLY mad. the look and the hand squeeze were more satisfying, and appropriate, than a kiss. suck it up, fans! its romantic in a very grown up and sophisticated way. i sometimes dont like kisses because they diffuse the tension and are used too liberally in other shows. the two kisses in ep100 were enough for me- one hot and passionate, and one fevered and tortured and brief. awesome.

Elizabeth said...

It's taken me some time to dwell on it, but I'm okay with the season finale.

I will be sorely disappointed, though, if either return in S6 with a significant other.

Like others have said, it's time for them to develop their emotional relationship.

collex said...

Iwas disappointed, but not angry or anything with the season finale. I agree wit those who say that they shouldn't bring another love interest because that would be boring. However, the comments we have here were very hypothetical(he used perhaps and maybe and potential) , and never said love interest.

So, here some ideas that doesn't involve a love interest (not all of them are good,or serious, mind you):

Bones adopts a child in Indonesia. She wanted a bay, and giving a child a better live is a perfectly "rational" (though not necessarily a good) idea.

Either Sweets or Daisy change their minds and decide to wait for the other...who does not wait.

Booth made a new army buddy who comes back some day after Booth to discover he has nothing left (his wife left him, or there was an accident and he lost his house and stuff, or maybe his fiancée gets murdered and that,s the case for the first episode.)so Booth offer him to come and lives with him for a time.

Brennan decided to try girls in Indonesia, but finds out she is not made for that. But the girl she tried it with comes to America because "she wants to be with her"

Booth become a (Hollywood version of) muslim in Afghanistanand he now have three wives.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Vanesaa, it's a great theory. And what about the timing? 4:47 flashing in the victim houses' clock in more than one scene... ring any bell people? Time "that" woman arrived to her bed...

I don't know it's just a funny idea ^_^

Anonymous said...

I personally prefer the episodes where Bones is actively working to save Booth. Since they're in the "field" anyway, I'd love to see Booth get "lost" in Afghanistan and the government needs Bones to find him, or his team. Maybe we'll think he's dead and the whole team has to work together to find him. I can see it now, a skeleton is sent to Indonesia for Bones to identify and it may or may not be Seely. There's a tear jerker idea for ya! Of course, it isn't him and she has to follow a range of clues, using Seely's techniques that her taught her to find him. Oh, and Angela definitely has to have kids!

Anonymous said...

any thoughts on the anthropologist replacement? i wonder how that will work out. when bones comes back will the replacement up and leave or will they stick around as the full time "intern" or maybe by that time zack will be out of jail for the crime he didn't commit... since they never really resolved that story line.
just something interesting to throw into the mix

i didnt mind the episode, i still trust hart. its about the journey. I dont think i would like it if the opening of the season 4 finale was the opener to the season 6. i dont know where they are going to work that in, because obviously they are engaged/married and living together.... but it is also the END. but then the voice over mentions more turmoil, so im just interested.

Anonymous said...

also, bones seems pretty confident that she is going to come back with a whole new way of thinking about what it means to be human...

Stephanie said...

I don't expect the "replacement" anthropologist to be much more than perhaps mentioned. Since they know when Brennan's coming back, Cam will most likely hire him/her only for the specific period that Brennan will be gone, so I don't think it'll be an issue.

And did anyone else think the job might just go to Clark anyway? He's already earned his doctorate (unlike the other interns,) he's been around the Jeffersonian since Season 3, Brennan thinks highly of him (as she first said when he was working with her family in "Verdict in the Story") and Cam already knows him.

I'd kind of love for Angela to come back pregnant. I'd be very disappointed if they came back already having had a baby and we missed all that, too. But Angela coming back halfway through a pregnancy or so? Yes, please.

Anonymous said...

What if Brennan comes back with a love Dr. With all the training that she received from Booth, she can find love abroad. And she will take him to their meeting with Booth. So we will have another scene of Booth crushing.

Then Booth goes back to be Brennan's lab dog again. How is that for change!?!!

What If They Were Meant To Spend A Year Apart And Some Amazing Murder Means They Come Back Early To Solve It.

Or Brennan Realises How Much She Loves Booth And How Much She WANTS To Be With Him And Shows Up At His Army Base.

Or After Like A Year Apart Brennan Knows She Loves Him And At The Coffee Cart Brennan Runs Up To Booth And Puts Her Arms Around Him And He Picks Her Up And Spins Her Around And When They Stop Hugging She Looks At Him. Oh And Brennan Is Wearing Her Warrior Clothes That Zack Said She Looked "Hot" In.

And Anyway Booth Goes Wow. You Look Amazing, You Should Dress Like This Every Day. Its Hot

Brennan Goes So Ive Been Told And Then Kisses Him.

Or Booth Is In Some MAJOR Danger And Bones Cant Help And She Feels Stupid And She Cant Stop Crying. In The End She Figures Out How To Save Him. And When She Does Save Him She Just Goes I Love You.

Awwww Bless.

Or She Can Tell Booth She Loves Him. And He Goes To Kiss Her But She Stops Him. Anyone Brennan Has Ever Loved Has Left Her. Now She Has To Deal With Showing Booth She Loves Him.

They Have Couple Issues Cause They Spend All Their Time Together And End Up Needing Sweets More Than Ever.

If They Do End Up Making Brennan Tell Booth She Loves Him I Think That The Couple Issues And Brennan Not Being Able To Show Booth How Much He Means To Her Is The Best Way To Keep The Sexual Tension But Have Brennan And Booth Admitting Their Feelings For Each Other.

Anonymous said...

Is It Me Or Has Brennan Regressed Slightly As A Character. I Mean She Was Always A Little Out There But On The Very First Episode The Security Guard Chased Her Through The Airport, She Beat Him Up And All He Needed To Do Was Look In Her Bag Cause She Was Carrying A Human Skull.

Anyway When The Man Looks In Her Bag, He's Horrified And Looks Towards Brennan. She Says Boo And He Drops The Bag And Shrieks. That Was Funny. And In Recent Episodes She Cant Even Tell A Decent Joke.

What Happened To Her Character?

Anonymous said...

and adding to previous comment.......if anyone thinks that being with Booth has helped her move along to being more emotionally aware, how is 1 year apart going to not be a setback?

ridiculous!

Anonymous said...

I really hope that it is Brennan that comes back with a love interest. Hope he is a good looking anthropologist. There she would be in her element. It will be interesting to see how Booth would react to that. He will be upset and mad,but then he will really move on and find a woman(Hope she is as gorgeous as Brennan) that is in his element. This way, they can still only work together and not be together socially. This would be a really good way for the TPTB to keep them apart until the very last episode of the series.

Sarah said...

I just saw the episode and I thought it was good. Granted I chose to watch the Grey's Anatomy finale first so I wasn't expecting something huge from this as everyone I know hated it or were disappointed!

Everyone kept complaining about a handshake, but didn't look like that to me. It looked like they didn't want to let the other one go. I thought the Bones asking Booth and the whole airport scene was good, they are great at giving each other "the look".

I'm ok with skipping a year, but please no love interests for Bones or Booth (Maybe Sweets or Daisy instead). If a love interest comes back for one of them, then Bones and Booth's relationship must not be important to whoever has the love interest. After all, Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

I think the year will give us a good shake up from murder cases after murder cases, so I'm looking forward to Season 6.

I just rewatched parts of the finale to see if I would feel differently about it - and, I noticed in the scene where Hodgins calls Booth to tell him about some accounting materials he found, Booth is looking through a photo album at a photo of him and a woman - both he and her in uniform.

I wonder if that might not be someone he had had an affair with that he hooks up with again - I just found it odd on second viewing that they focused on that photo just as Booth distractedly hung up on Hodgins.

Guess we will see. I still didn't like the episode but wanted to see if I missed something that might change my mind - I didn't.

Elizabeth said...

@Courtney... that's not a woman in the picture. It's Cpl. Teddy Parker, the guy Booth failed to save and he named his son after.

I think it's part of Booth's angst as to why he's going back into the Army. A chance to save lives when he failed to save Parker.

Just my take on it.

Courtney said...

Ah, you are probably correct - but, I must say it looked like a female, but your explanation makes much more sense.

After watching that last scene again and seeing her wearing a St. Christopher - something that represents religion which she has shown much disdain for - I am leaning toward them having had a possibly intimate farewell by themselves because it really seems that Booth is wanting to kiss her, takes her hand instead possibly because the squints are right there watching them. There was just something about that scene on second viewing that indicated a greater intimacy than before - and the looks to each other when they turned to look at one another.

Maybe her wish from last year to have a baby will come true - in my crazy head maybe they did sleep with each other and she gets pregnant which would certainly turn next year on its head and may also account somewhat for the title of the finale.

This is all just coming from my trying to make sense of the connection between last year's finale title and this year's title.

Maybe the "beginning" (or at least part of it) is the beginning of a new life? I think this will be my last nutty surmise -

Or then again, probably not to all of the above. But that necklace is certainly not a minor thing that occurred.

Whoever spotted that - good eye! I missed it completely which after I read about it here and saw it, made me view the final scene very differently.

chillip said...

courtney, my thoughts wandered in that direction, too, intimacy-wise, though that would be quite a tricky story to tell.

and it was parker in the picture -- i thought the same as you the first time i saw the episode but when you go back it's clear it's pvt parker.

Courtney said...

Yes, it would be very tricky to pull off but it could be more interesting and fun (if well written which is a big IF these days) than the tired and true storyline of one of them coming back with a significant other and having to watch the other be jealous and them work their way together blah blah blah - a baby would throw them right in the deep end of the pool instead of more slow courtship stuff.
I mean we have been watching this slow dance for five years - I say go for it - and push them off the cliff into a whole new dimension of relating.

Anyway - that's my vote and I think I'd kind of like it - corny as it could be - but, only if well done.

Stephanie said...

I don't think there necessarily is a huge connection between the two titles. Hart said once that the season 4 title was supposed to be taken literally, so I think this one should as well (thus the "beginning" of a year apart in the "end" of the episode, simple as that.) If there's supposed to be a connection between the two titles, I think that's it. I think a lot of fans have gone a little crazy with trying to connect every single little thing to the season 4 finale.

Also, someone posted a pic today showing that the supposed St. Christopher necklace is the same necklace she was wearing in "Tough Man in the Tender Chicken" earlier this season. So I don't really think it was anything significant. I do think there was definitely another goodbye, though, since Booth seemingly left a week before Brennan did and they had already made their coffee cart plans. I really hope they don't have her come back with Booth's baby, though. I'm pretty sure that would be the end of Bones for me.

chillip said...

has anyone did a necklace index? the only other match i looked for was the "that things on your neck looks nice" from the end of foot in the foreclosure. i found that one in "glowing bones".

i, for one, aren't trying to tie the S4 and S5 finales together tightly. i agree with you there, stephanie, for sure.

Stephanie said...

I haven't seen a necklace index or anything like that, but I know she's worn the same ones multiple times, especially this season. For example, the necklace she was wearing in the bench/park scene in this finale was the same one she was wearing in "The Bones on the Blue Line." I once read in Entertainment Weekly that Brennan's necklaces can cost the show up to 500 dollars each, so they probably reuse them as much as they think they can get away with, especially since shows tend to have to work with smaller budgets as they get older.

Lena said...

I really believe with all my heart, that HH is a big BB shipper at heart, and really wants to get them together. I think the network is the one that doesn't want this. I have read some of the tweets to Hart and they were without a doubt the meanest comments I have EVER seen. I like Hart, but it's SN that I dislike. To come out and say after this emotional final, that one of them will not come back alone is Beyond Stupid. I will hang on to very end,but if either of them is involved romantically with another person when they get back ,I know a lot of people will GIVE UP!!!!

Grace said...

I don't understand where all this is leading up to. This season moved things along very quickly. The whole Brennen Booth relationship sped up and then stopped right after the 100th episode. The way Brennen's character grew was a bit forced in my opinion but then they left her at a stand still.

I don't know why its taking forever to get them together at this point, because its not like there won't be a show after. They could explore so many new things like how they work together, how couples counseling is with Sweets, how they are around the rest of the team, or on a case, if Brennen will actually want to marry, if they will have a kid like in season 4 -- which, come on, how could they bring that one up and totally drop?

And honestly, how are they going to introduce more love interests that aren't Catherine or Hacker.

I honestly wish they'd either give clear signs of B/B moving toward a relationship or just start having more interesting cases like how the show was in the beginning.

Anonymous said...

I liked the finale of season 5,I think that them taking a year off will be great, it will give the writers more stories and will allow them to come up with more murders.

i personally hope that booth and brennan end up together but i dont think it should be rushed maybe by the end of season 6. However Brennans strong views on marriage and life are what makes her 'bones' so i think that these characteristics should be broken down slowly as Booth shows her what its like to really love somebody.

I like the idea of Bones adopting a baby however maybe make her fall pregnant to someone and then when she gets home booth decides that he wants to raise the baby as his own with brennan, I dont know something along those lines.

I would love to see angela pregnant that would be awesome im so glad they finally got married.

Booth and Brennan should not come back with new loves however maybe stories about people they met in the countries they are in and started to like would be good.

Im also hoping that booths son Parker will look older, I dont know if its just me whos noticed but it seems he never ages much, he looks pretty much the same as he did when he started on the show but apparently he is older now.

Im a die hard fan of bones and I agree it has changed alot from the start but i think thats only natural. I will continue watching til the very last episode.

It would be totally awesome if they filmed an episode or two Down Under :D

@Anon 11:25 Let me get this straight, if Brennan is pregnant by another man and has a baby after she comes back, you would like Booth to help her raise this child. Is that what you actually said? GET REALISTIC! HE WOULD NEVER DO THAT!!!wrovedid

@ Anon 12:32pm Yea your right that would suck I was just thinking about ideas but now that i come to think about it more it wouldnt work. I was just thinking thats the kinda guy Booth is but yea i admit not one of my brightest ideas lol!!!

i dont get the impression bones is stupid- if she is really in love with booth she isnt going to come back pregnant incase booth doesnt want her because of it!!!!

Anonymous said...

truthfully i kind of liked this year's finale.i like the idea of skipping a year, i guess its kind of testing them to see if they still want each other once they come back. but i have this really bad feeling that they will have something written in about one of them not showing up at the coffee cart in a year and the other will start freaking out or something.

Anonymous said...

I think this is a good thing. A year apart will make such a difference for the characters. As an old die-hard X-Files fan I can tell you that this is when this sort of break needs to happen. If you watched that show then you know what I mean!

I think people need to stop getting so worried about Booth coming back with someone...he's in Afghanistan, it's not exactly a hot spot for falling in love!

Anonymous said...

I think Brennan is very aware that she doesn't understand the world or human love in the way most people do, and by the end of Season 5 that's really starting to bother her. I don't wonder if she doesn't confront that she has Aspergers and start seeing a therapist to become more socially aware. Clearly she loves Booth, but she's really scared that she'll break him somehow. Or that she will fail at being his real partner. I feel like she's ready to face some of her own crap and fight for the happiness she wants.

Anonymous said...

Is it possible that maybe they won't actually skip a year.

It is possible that Bones will realise that she loves Booth or something else dramatic that brings Bones to Booth or back home.

I hope so cos I'm really annoyed at missing the first year of Angela and Hodgins marriage.

Mike said...

I think its fine that they're skipping a year but i really dont want them to come back with a love interest!! Im tired of seeing that..the only thing that makes me look fwd to the next episode is when i know that they feel smtn for each other n theres nothing blocking them from saying it..that builds the anticipation for the next episode! But if they hv someone, then it wd be no fun coz i will already know that they're not gonna do anything about their feelings!
Maybe booth will come back depressed or smtn after the war and Brennan has to be the strong one n help him deal with it and then realizes how much she cares for him and that shes in love with him! lol
Or something along those lines!!
Not another new partners angle..give us something to look fwd to!!

Anonymous said...

I think it was totally necesary fro them to skip a year, they had brought the show to a stalemate and it was pretty obvious that if hey ddnt break it of it was just going to become repetetive and boring!

I feel like they've dragged out the booth brennan thing for far too long. If they got together in season five it would have been ideal, now i feel like I won't be as excited when it happens because it's been so long. I hope they don't wait until the last episode to get them together because fans want to get to see them grow as a couple. I'm doubting it'll happen but I hope they put the two together early season six so we can watch their relationship for a few seasons before the show ends.

You know, I really didn't take Stephen Nathan's comments to mean that the show will pick up with a year missing. I really think the premiere will "open" with a flash forward to one year later, a few scenes and some dialogue, and then quickly pick up the story where the finale left it. I think perhaps we get 6-7 episodes to represent the "year" showing us how they got to the flashfoward, (if they wind up being gone that long), and then the show resumes with all back in DC.

You know, I am so excited for the sixth season of Bones, which is my all time favorite T.V show, and maybe I am the only one, but the show has such an honest quality to it, unlike Grey's Anatomy and True Blood(ick btw). In Bones the friendships are so real, and the product isn't a stupid soap opera. The light hearted atmosphere of the friends/colleagues helps relieve all the ick and tension from the dead body, but the interest in the murder is still there. I just want to see Brennan and Booth finally get through the barriers and eventually get married, they are so perfect together, and If I had a guy like Booth into me, I would probably melt into the floor, not whack him in the face. But I think the year apart will do them good, or at least will make them think things through, and perhaps bring back other things, that will make both of them have to work hard to finally get each other back. As long as they eventually get married, I am good. But I am just wanting the sixth season to start already.

Season 6 is pretty much open for new thins to happen. The season finale was kind of a disappointment but is an open end and the beginning of many possibilities. What if Booth gives up on Bones entirely? What if they end up together but there are too many obstacles? I also liked the idea of a blogger that said that we need to learn more about Booth. I am excited to see what new ideas the show will bring.

I don't mind them skipping a year but if Booth or Bones come back with a love interest then I'm not going to watch any more. I may even throw away all my DVD's in disgust.

My 1st thought was “An Affair to Remember,” a Cary Grant-Debra Kerr (I think) movie. They plan to meet on top of the Empire State Bldg on New Year’s Eve but she is hit by a car on the way there. I hope neither gets injured during this “year” or on their way to the coffee stand. Will either have written to anyone? Will Angela become a recognized artist while in Paris? Will Jack’s accountant steal some of his fortune. Will Angela be pregnant? Will Dr. Goodman, Cam, Angela & Hodgins, Sweets, Gordon-Gordon, Zack (on leave or released), other interns, Caroline, Russ, Max, Angela’s Dad all come together to welcome Brennan (and Booth) back? Most people with careers certainly remain in jobs for more than a year. Will Max have continued as a science teacher/mentor for Parker. Will the Gravedigger try to reach out from prison? I’d like B & B to realize during their year away something is missing in their lives, they meet again at the coffee stand… they smile… they touch… they embrace… they don’t let go. Ah, romance. However, it would also be kind of nice to see on tv a man and a woman have a good and trusting friendship without sliding between the sheets with each other. Somehow, another romantic involvement for either of them does not seem desirable. Sully could come back from his island retreat to welcome them both back, but not to renew his romance with Brennan.

booth and bones should get together already, they have dragged it out for 5 seasons and its getting annoying, i think what should happen is that the year apart they both 'realize they cant be without the other', and when they first meet they kiss and get together - the wait is just too long

I was one of the rare few who enjoyed the finale. The first time I watched it, I was screaming for them to kiss or hug at the end, and was pretty disappointed when they didn't. However, after I rewatched it, I realized the hand-holding is pretty significant. After all, how many hugs and have we seen between them? Too many to count. We've seen about one hand hold (Tough Man in the Tender Chicken).

I like the skipping a year thing because I think it will give a lot of new storylines. They were kind of stuck in a rut after the 100th. Plus, it's pretty unlikely Booth will come back with a love interest. He's going to a war zone, and I don't think he'll have much time for dates.

I don't think I could ever stop watching Bones, and I'm 99% sure B&B get together eventually, we'll just have to wait and see if it's in the 6th season or the 12th season ;)

If booth & bones dont get together, I am going to make sure everyone in my neighborhood stops wwatching (including me). seriously, the tension has already reached a climax, from this point on the numbers will just dwindle until bones gets canceled. HATE IT!

I'm still not sure how I feel about the finale. However, throughout the series I have doubted the writers and in the end they always did a superb job. I'm still a little apprehensive about whether or not they jumped the shark with the 100th episode (which I adored), but I'm going to keep my faith in the writers and trust that they will continue the brilliance of the show.

I'm actually okay if either or both B&B bring back a love interest, as long as it is done right. If the writers choose to use love interests to extend the series itself then no doubt the shark has been jumped and this is the start of the series decline.

However, I have hope and will just wait for what season 6 brings and continue to put my faith in the writers - they have not failed me yet.

do you know what i think i think that bones is going to realize that she loves him and goes to Afghanistan to search for him but she gets into some kind of trouble and booth has to go rescue her and when booth tries to he gets caught and then the team finds out about it and has to save them both wouldn't that be good and then booth and bones realize how valued life is and do the romance stuff just what i think :)

@Anon 10:36PM. You got to be kidding. You'll wait even it is 12 years? JUST WANT HANSON WANTED TO HEAR!!!!

I liked the season finale, i personally think that a year of for b/b will be good for them and their perspective relationship. i agree with everyone that the whole recurring character is unneeded and overdone on this show. we are done with the whole other love interests part of the story line. i want the two together and i think this is the season for it! i heard somewhere that emily asked if bones and booth could be in a relationship this weekend cuz she wants it to happen too!!! i think that this will be a good season coming up as long as we dont have to deal with them in other relationships cuz i dont want to watch that. but no matter what does happen, i will watch every single episode of bones because i am a die hard fan and have been since episode one. this truly is one of the best shows on tv and it will always be a great show!!

he is crazy to let b and b come but with recurring love interest. if he does that he will be spoiling the whole show.
he should have made them kiss in the final episode in the airport, that would have made it much better because in season 6 it would have been hard for them but they know that they love each other and want each other.
lets hope that in season 6 they become are couple.

I loved the finale. I agree with others who said that B/B need some time & perspective. I also agree that I think it would be bad writing to introduce new love interests for either/ both of them. They are meant for each other; they know it, and more importantly, the audience know it.
Looking forward to August!

Omg i kinda want sully to come back for her ... plus zack i HOPE he comes back. He was one of my favorite characters until the whole gormogon thing.

Anonymous said...

OK, how about this for thought... All that was said in the interview is that they may not 'come back alone'. Well it's possible that means new love interest, but what if Brennan comes back with a new grad student and Booth... well honestly I don't know who he could bring back, but it's a though. I'm not diluding myself here, I know it's more likely they come back(or at least Booth comes back) with a love interest, but hey that's the fun of speculation right?^^

I loved the finally!! Eventhought i'm one of few..
But as some people already said..
I'll be very mad if one of them bring company when they meet! Despite that i love bones and i'll keep watching to see where this takes me..

First of all, I hated the season finale! It was all so vague and frankly boring! I mean they say nothing, do nothing, and wee all know what to expect when they get back to work. It's gonna be a new girl for Boothe that Bones is going to be hissing at for a few episodes in her own creepy ways, and she's gonna bring back some nerdy uptight scientist that Boothe is gonna add to the squint list and laugh at.
I wish they had the creativity of inventing a new storyline, because this one has been dragged just about enough to make me sick!
I would like to see a new case, something perpetual like the gravedigger, or the gormogon, something that would stick an episode or two just to make some real action.
Also, I would love to see Zach back, or at the very least I would appreciate them picking the inter already!

Bones said that she wanted to have a baby because she felt the need for a prodigy, so why not give her one. She can find a genius kid in Indonesia who has lost their family, and adopt. I think making a commitment to motherhood will help her develop, maybe make her a softer person. I think she needs to develop her nurturing side before she can successfully be in a relationship, and a kid would be a better way to do this then a new love interest.

As far as Booth goes, I think it would be more interesting if he was completely messed up from the trauma of Afghanistan. Something should happen that hurts him more than any of his past war trauma. The baggage he brings back could cause a role reversal where bones has to help him with his ability to express emotion and be in relationships.

I'm really curious and looking forward to whatever the writers decide, I just hope they can be more creative than new love interests.

I think that this season will be igual the others will have the goods and bads ,but for me it doesn't mean that I'll stop to watching Bones ,because I love this show!!!!

I'm okay with skipping a year, I guess, i'm in the minority here but i think getting BB together would sort of ruin the sexual tension of the show.

Anyways, i was just thinking, did'nt Angela lie in court about her name? i dunno about american law but could the gravedigger make holes in there case and gett off on a tecnicality. i dunno, just throwing that out there.

I really wanna see sweets grown up a bit. or maybe his birth father comes back into his life and screws it all up.

They did say there would be some more reacurring characters, so maybe.

I think the year away is a pretty good idea, it not only helps them evolve as characters seperately, it probably will help Brennan realize that she does love Booth. After all, absence makes the heart grow fonder. I also think that bringing back love interests is a good idea. I kow a lot of people think that the whole jealousy idea is overdone, but tell me it isn't fun to watch? And I think that if Booth brings back a new interest just when Brennan realizes she is in love with Booth, it will move their relationship forward, maybe not in the way we would like it to, but still. If they just went ahead and jumped each others bones, the show would end which is something I would definitely dislike.

I would like to know whatever happened to the whole baby conversation at the end of season 5. I understand that all the issues with the brain tumor went on, but I don't understand why that conversation never resurfaced???

Stephanie said...

Hart and Emily have both said multiple times that it was very telling that when Booth said he couldn't be the sperm donor, Brennan's interest in having a baby immediately dropped back down to zero. Basically, that conversation and that episode had very little to do with an actual baby and was more like Brennan's very weird way of expressing feelings for Booth.

I loved the season finally. I read that Booth does come back with a girlfriend named Ashley played by Katheryn Winnick(spelling?). Caroline calls them all back after only 7 months to help with a case and save Cam's job. I'm not sure if it's true but I read that on at least 5 sites.

I actually liked the finale; it shows what everybody is going to be doing until series 6. I've heard that one of the squints die...which I'm not looking forward to. It'd be really annoying if booth or brennan return with a love intrest because they already admitted to loving eachother. I hope brennan becomes more soft hearted in her time away. Picking faults again, when booth admitted to loving brennan, and she said she could never be a warm hearted person, he should have said that she didn't need to change and that he loves her the way she is.
I'm exited to see the bb meeting at the coffee cart, to find out what they say to eachother. Going back to the airport scene, that little handhold signifies that they acknowledge their feelings.

OK they all come back after 7 months to come "help" cam out. the 2nd ep will have a normal case and a new evil baddie has come to life nicknamed the "snipper" (ooh any1 thinking booth, remeber grave digger was the evil brennan lol) so Ashley (Production name her names been changed) is a very close friend and she comes to visit very unexpectedly and as far as i know and have read they are not a couple and stays for a few episodes. someone does get killed but i dont think its one of the regulars but a close friend of the squints
i'll update when i knoe more

What I read on one of the sites was that Booth has a relationship with a journalist while hes in afghanistan and comes back with a love interest..Brennan has had 7 months to think about everything and might feel a bit different towards booth now..and she will be jealous of his new girlfriend. And yes the first episode is about a case to save Cam's job..it says so on tv.com. I really hate the fact that hes coming back with someone. Idk how long its gonna be before they're actually together.

I really didn't mind the finale except for the fact that it led you on. It led you to believe that something would happen, but then it let you down. I am going to be seriously pissed if either of them came back with a new love interest. It just wouldn't make any sense! And because it will piss me off to no end Booth will come back with a new love interest (according to spoilers and recent season 6 previews) Do the producers not realize how many shows out there have lost their fan base because they became tired of the constant waffling when it came to main character relationships.

BESIDES!!!!! Booth had Brain surgery, ergo he would NEVER be allowed into the military again, not even just to train snipers. He's a liability. It's not allowed! so the whole go away to Afghanistan idea was shit!
