Season finale prep: Five episodes to rewatch first

Ever since "Bones" creator Hart Hanson tweeted that the fifth season finale would be called "The Beginning in the End," fans have speculated about what the cryptic title means.

The obvious connection is to the fourth season alternate universe finale -- which was titled "The End in the Beginning" -- and while there are some tie-ins between the two hours, they're more like subtle nods.

That being said, Korbi TV has compiled a list of five episodes you should be familiar with in preparation for next week's season ender.

While we can't tell you why they relate to the upcoming finale, we can tell you what the original FOX press releases said about the individual episodes. We can also maybe say whether the press release mentions the reason(s) you should be rewatching them.

So, without further ado...

1. "Pilot"
2. "The Soldier on the Grave"
3. "The Boneless Bride in the River"
4. "The Passenger in the Oven"
5. "The Parts in the Sum of the Whole"

(Please go to the original article for the respective press releases. I didn't want to push the episode discussion for "Boy with the Answer" too much by making a really long post.)

Hm, that seems like a really odd list but I do have an idea what the common factor is in all of them. What do you guys think?

Spoilers and speculations ahead!

Hulu expired "PitSotH". Is there any place else to watch it online?

Okay -- to me this is clear:

All of the episodes either mention Booth or Brennan's original work: working for the US Army, working on anthropological, ancient digs.

The finale is going to return them to their original work -- or at least present them with the opportunity to return to their original work and sever their partnership.

Elizabeth -- you can buy individual episodes at amazon for a few dollars. That is what I did for the season 5 episodes I couldn't find online. :)

And I agree with Sarah. From some of the teasers it seems that Booth is being offered a new position. Which makes sense -- he's got to advance sometime right? He can't be the man in the field forever.

I wonder how he will do it without letting Brennan feel abandoned? Whenever they have been apart for any period of time it has always been her walking away. I don't think it is possible for him to do it... unless maybe she pushes him... we'll see!

I think she, as others think, will make a return to her original work: old remains instead of murdered victims.

He will probably move on to something else but, let's face it, they will be back together soon enough doing something.

This is just another boulder thrown in their paths - I'm kinda over all the tricks.

Heaven forbid there could ever be a happy cliffhanger on any show - I guess they think such endings will not bring the viewers back in the Fall, which to me, is ridiculous, but that's the business I guess.

I wish I could feel something about all this but it feels contrived to me as they have run out of reasons to keep them apart romantically, they are now probably going to do it professionally.

This is not a spoiler - all speculation on my part.

All I can think of is
'if we're not working together anymore, we can have sex...'

@ Geenes
I cracked a grin at your comment! really really good point.. hehe, hopefully it will be said again!

@Sarah (#2)
yeah, I think so too. has to be, right? but I also hope that the I-want-you-to-take-off-your-glasses-and-shake-your-hair-out-and-say-Mr. Booth, do you know the costs on overdue books-line is in it!(the one from PitO) genius that one.

well, Hart Hanson says we'll see them working together again at the start of the next season. But the spoilers make it look like she's already made the decision to go off for a year and he doesnt want her to. so they might pick up next season after the passing of a whole year.

there wouldnt be any big changes, cliffhangers or new directions if neither on took their prospective alternate jobs. so im guessing at least one of them does. i also keep thinking about the 'if we arent working together we can have sex' but they pretty much agreed that wasnt the obstacle.

im just excited to see what having to say goodbye to one another is going to being out in these characters. even if it makes me want to just scream and pull my hair out (i know they arent getting together, hart hanson has said over and over that his job is to stretch this tension out as long as he can) at least it will be hot. i hope.

im assuming this convo is safe for spoilers. yes?

Yup, spoilers are good here. I originally thought a year time jump would be okay, but then I realized that if they really do skip a year in Bones time, we're going to miss the entire first year of Hodgins & Angela's marriage, and I don't like that, so now I hope they don't do a big time jump.

I'm beginning to think they may go off somewhere together. Hart said they'd be together at the start of season 6 - but he didn't say whether they'd be in DC or not.

And - I don't know if any of you have seen it or not - but Ausiello from Entertainment Weekly has this May Scorecard that lists all the big events from May episodes. He had a category for resignations/firings, and I originally thought at least one slot would belong to a Bones character. Well...last I checked, all of the slots under that category are filled, which leads me to believe Brennan isn't leaving because her resigning from the Jeffersonian would be huge. Stupid reason to think that, I know, but it gives me a little bit of hope. I'm more worried about the Jeffersonian than Brennan. I love the Jeffersonian, so I want it to continue to be part of the show!
