Fellow obsessees,

May I please share my Comic-Con story with you?

One of my best friends is a wonderful guy who treated me to Comic-Con last year & this one, so that I could help with his young kids in whatever way was needed. This year he even went back and exchanged our train tickets for earlier ones when he found out the time for the Bones panel so that I could make it. Of course I was incredibly excited and grateful.

Almost two weeks ago he was diagnosed with cancer. He was on crutches for Comic-Con because he still wanted to go, mainly for his kids. He had been feeling well so the plan was that I would go to the Bones panel while he took the kids around the exhibits part, which he insisted he could handle. But he started chemo last week and felt awful by the time we made it to San Diego. Obviously there was no question of what I should do, and I took his kids around the exhibits while he rested. At 2:00 the Bones panel started right above us on the 2nd floor. And I went a little crazy in my head thinking about how I could be in there, that it was happening within reach, and that DB was right in the room above me! DB WAS RIGHT IN THE ROOM ABOVE ME!!!!. At 2:45 I calmed down and went back to reality, harsh as it was. The rest of the weekend went well, though.

The reason I am telling you this is because I know that you are the only people who will understand why I went a little crazy in my head and won't judge me (hopefully) as being ridiculous/selfish/a lunatic/a bad friend/whatever.

So thanks for listening, brothers and sisters!

Wow, thanks for sharing that! What an amazing experience to be there, and what a great friend you are. I'm sure your friend appreciates what you did.

He kept apologizing for making me miss the panel! Can you imagine? I told him it was fine because now I could stay spoiler-free!

Thanks for your kind words, Mindy, but I didn't do anything great. I just did what anyone would have in that situation, unless they were a total a-hole!
