No, things have to change

I think that they could do just about anything -- I've really been blown away by the level of expression and emotion they are able to put into fairly simple plots and scenes. DB is a little more type cast into a TV role than any of the others. It would be hard to see him in an Indy film, for example. Although i think if he did, he would be excellent.I think since we've seen him in two very popular "romantic-ish" leads, it would be fun to see him pull a Cary Elwes (Princess Bride) and be the bad guy in something. The first time I saw Elwes play the bad guy I was so shocked -- the shattered perceptions really addeed to the evilness of the character (But.. but... you're WESLEY. You can't collect and murder young college girls!)However, I have never watched Buffy or Angel so maybe I would be the only one shocked to see DB play a bad guy. :)I'd also love to pick up the characters (Booth, Brennan, Hodgins, and the whole team) and drop them into another show. I think they'd give great added value to the Criminal Minds team, for example. They've been very good at tracking down serial killers -- why not do it full time?
Emily D as Wonder Woman, of course!
I am impressed by everyone, but the person I'd like to see go really far and do lots of stuff is TJ Thyne. I think he is just incredible and would love to see him in some darker roles.
I think DB would make a good vampire...oh wait...
Just a little correction for Vorpaks: Alexis Denisof played Wesley in Angel and Carey Elwes played FBI agent Follmer in season 8 of X-Files!As far as what other roles I would like to see David Boreanatz and Emily Deschanel play-I agree that both have displayed a variety of emotional depth and comic timing with their characters and would be great cast in either dramatic or comic roles. They are both talented enough play any role in my opinion.DB playing a rogue detective/spy kind of James Bond character or even a "Cary Grant" type of role would be fun, I could also see him as the "bad guy" (but having a reason to have turned bad). It would be great to see Emily in something completely different from her level-headed intelligent Brennan character-some very quirky, eccentric girl who lives by her own rules and wrecks havoc wherever she goes would be awesome! I'm looking forward to seeing Emily in "A Perfect Family"-it sounds like it will be very funny. Also, I think David made an Indy film about a girl's high school basketball team, though I don't know the name or if/when it'll be released.I don't think either actor wants to be type-cast in the roles that they have played for so long-which is the downside of having a long running show. It may be hard for some of their fans to accept in other roles!
Vorpaks is referencing Cary Elwes playing Wesley in The Princess Bride.
I could see DB as Jim in Ghost Whisperer. He's really good at the paranormal genre. Emily could follow her sister into indie, I could totally see that. I don't really know where everyone will go after Bones is over. I can see them guesting A LOT until they land some major roles, unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, if it's on a favorite show of yours). And I would love to see Tamara in some more dramatic roles. She seems like the type to do more crime than comedy.
sorry Vorpaks,I didn't realize both characters were named Wesley!
Thanks Mindy for the clarifiication.
I've been reading some Karin Slaughter crime/mystery novels with recurring characters, much like Kathy Reichs books. One of the recurring characters is Will Trent, who happens to be a Georgia Bureau of Investigation special agent, who works on really difficult cases with the Atlanta police. The latest one is "Undone". Anyway, this character is the tortured, strong, hero styled guy that David can pull off so well. I picture him as I read each novel. I highly recommend the books. Great summer reading!
Since I didn't know any of these actors before Bones, it's kinda hard for me to picture them as other characters. I've seen TJ and Emily in smaller movie roles or TV guest spots, but I've never seen any of them in other big, leading roles (including David, since I never watched Buffy/Angel.)I'm most eager to see what Emily does after Bones. I could see her having a career similar to Zooey's. Everyone says Zooey's so indie (and she has made some great indie films,) but she does plenty of mainstream movies, too. I could see Emily doing both as well. For some reason, I feel like Emily'll be pretty good at picking good scripts. I'm afraid that she, more so than the others, will end up being pretty typecast after playing Brennan for maybe 6+ years, but Emily's impressed me so much on Bones, I kinda feel like she could probably do whatever she wanted.I agree with Meg about TJ Thyne. Out of all the guys on Bones, he's stood out the most for me, so I hope he goes on to some good roles. Michaela, too. I could totally see Michaela in romantic comedies.
Stephanie, when you said romantic comedy, you reminded me: Michaela had a bit part in the Disney movie Enchanted. You can just catch her at the end working in the dress shop. I love that movie and I sitting there watching one day and said OMG that's Angela!! :)
Yeah, Michaela's in one of the Enchanted deleted scenes, too. I remembered that right after I posted that I had only seen TJ and Emily in other roles, haha.
@Stephanie, I LOVE Emily because she is a beautiful classy woman and hope that I am wrong, but I feel that she is going to have a difficult time in securing good roles after Bones is over. She makes Brennan come to life and therefore people will always see her as Bones. This is what happened to the SEINFELD cast. Talented people who will always be TYPECAST. Even DB who has the classic old time Hollywood leading man look will have a hard time finding good roles. God, I am hope I am wrong, because I just love those two.
Emily Deschanel should be Grace's mom in the up coming film Shiver (2012)! And David should be her father, they are very young so it would work GREAT!! Oh please, please people!! haha :) check out the book: Shiver, it's amazing!!
I would love to see DB in a western. Good guy or bad guy. Love me a man on a horse.
When I read the book MY SISTER'S KEEPER I so thought DB would have been great as the dad in the movie. He wasn't, obviously, and I never saw the movie, but a roll like that is made for him.
